Mary Worth 1,106

There is a reason why newspapers all over the country are cutting Mary Worth from their pages: It's just too AWESOME. We don't deserve such awesomeness. It needs to be taken from us. Maybe, someday, when we are worthy, it can be restored, but for now, we gaze ignobly upon the holy ark.

By the way, you can find Bobby Black on Facebook.

Today's Full Strip

When we are worthy, or when we are Worth-y?

I nailed it! Yesterday I predicted that Mom would ask Gina to search for Bobby. I am not, however, gloating. It's sad (and predictable) that Moy's story took such an obvious turn.

Wouldn't a good Mom say, "Stop whining and get on with the 21st century. And get away from that diner, too!"

On an up note, this storyline may finally bring some sense to the whole Kindle-Facebook plot. Maybe Dawn and Gina can share their purple wardrobe.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Gina found Bobby fairly quickly and he reacted something like, "Gina, Gina, Gina......Your name does ring a bell somehow. When did you say you knew me?" Of course, that's not going to happen. Either Bobby died in the 9/11 attacks or he is alive and well, having pined for Gina all his life as well. Both are completely unaware that with today's tools it would have been PRETTY SIMPLE finding each other sooner. Is Moy teaching us another technology lesson? One with a positive angle? Oh, what am I thinking! It's all about finding true love. As usual.

Whose enormous hand is that on Mama's arm?!!!

This is the DUMBEST storyline EVER!!!

Skateboarding buds? Bobby? Lost love? Mafia hit? Witness protection? Whatttt?

And we thought that the story of Wilbur gallivanting around the countryside with Kurt was dumb...

How did she know? Because YOU NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!! Geesh!

I yearn for the simple days of sandwiches and kites and face touching. Jill Black would feast on my tears.

If Bobby is reading this and sees that Gina will look like Sylvester Stallone when she's older, he's going to get in the Witness Protection program and go far, far away.

Wait. True love? At 12-ish? Puh-lease, mom, give us a break here. Maybe you're just feeling guilty because the cruel hand of fate is snatching you.

I don't see any way out of this story - I'm pretty sure it can't get any more boring.

This story line is embarrassing me.

This is some truly awful stuff. I'd like to think Missy Ponytail is really a con artist, but that would be actually interesting and entertaining. Nope, it's "true love at 14" for us poor readers.

Peggy (and I) nailed it yesterday. I AM going to gloat because only the two of us - with our brilliance and discerning minds - could figure out Moy's mind.

(Or admitted to it. How sad is that?)

Also, I'm hoping for a Lonnie Roberts solution to this, where Gina goes to New York with a Polaroid of Bobby and just starts asking people if she's seen him.

Well, words fail me. Did Gina's constant sleep-yakking disturb Mother B.'s rest so much that she became ill? Why do all the female characters in this strip wear shades of purple? (Note Mother B.'s nightie.) And who is in that photo in the background in the first panel? I presume it's the Barone family in the days when happy was the only way they knew how to be, but the figure at top left looks suspiciously like either Bobby Black or Howdy Doody (boy, am I showing my age).

Most people actually try to avoid meeting up with their 14 year old crush on Facebook!

It is no longer fun to mock Moy. It's just pathetic.

...or expected.

Sadly, I think I am now turned on by older chicks still trying to sport the hairdos of their youth. I like it when they talk about the crush they had 20 years ago on our dates.

I don't feel so bad when I ask for separate checks!

Who is the family in the picture in the background?

kathyo said...

@Dave in Parma: And two days ago, there was only one face in that photo atop the dresser.

When will distinguished professor Ian Cameron make another appearance in this strip? That's what I want to know.

Is Adrian still on her honeymoon?

If you look up "pathetic" in the dictionary, I'm quite sure you'd see a picture of Gina there.

Shouldn't one of Bobby's interests/activities on Facebook be jazz hands?
