"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor degrading public humiliation stays these ridiculously costumed couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
Apparently Bobby's soccer salary and KickinIt personal appearance fees aren't enough to get by on; he needs to change from his blue blazer into a red one and moonlight as a messenger....to deliver a message to himself apparently.
Remember: it's important! really important! (hopefully Hina paid extra for signature confirmation and message tracking).
Why is Gina not getting ready for the Big Game? She is going, isn't she? She should be obsessing about what to wear, and Mary should be there, helping her pick something properly purple.
One can only guess at the rarefied atmosphere wrapped around Moy and Giella if they think an iota of this drivel is factual, relevant and/or interesting.
I've said it before: the cruel hand of fate stifles a yawn.
It's already Wednesday, and Gina is only on her second attempt to contact Bobby. I imagine it'll be an awfully long time until that soccer game starts. I'm afraid I might be kickingit before then - the bucket, that is.
@Dave in Parma - Are we really certain that's not Bobby working a second job as a courier? Or are all the male characters in this strip starting to look alike?
Elaine - not only are the male characters all starting to look alike (we can even chart the exact moment this happened: when Giella changed Dr. Mike's hair color from red to blue-black, mid storyline), but all the peripheral characters will have the last name of Black from now on.
I'm still wondering if Moy used the name "Black" with any connection between Jill and Bobby, or if she missed it completely. I guess the latter, otherwise she'd have written Mary make the connection.
Geez, all Gina has to do is go to Stadium or Arena or whatever, sit in the stands, and hold up a big sign saying "Bobby Black! Remember me from our childhood!" or something.
SOMEONE will take some video and put it up on YouTube.
Dave in Parma, Elaine, and Punky have already made this point, but my first thought was that the courier said to Gina, "No problem. I'm having dinner with my twin brother before the game. I'll give him the message then."
@Anon 12:14 PM - Actually I'd like to give Giella some props here, for humorously playing off the name of the Santa Royalty Messenger Company. We complain all the time, but this actually is a clever visual pun.
@tuffenuf "My good friend 'GEORGE WASHINGTON' " - HA HA HA.
Is Gina really that big or is the courier especially small? I mean, look at the size of her shoulders in panel 1. She could threaten to beat this guy up if he doesn't deliver her snakeskin.
"It's my job, Ma'am" says Messenger in his best Joe Friday of "Dragnet" monotone. Tomorrow he'll ask Gina for "just the facts, Ma'am."
TRUE STORY: I attended my aunt's funeral today. One of the people there was my cousin's ex-husband, BOB BLACK. He did not have blue hair, a basketball, or a soccer ball. He was not wearing a New York Blazes cardigan, nor did he ride a skateboard into the church.
Why is she eating chickpeas during the big game? Why is her plasma TV on a bureau next to her sofa, which is next to her bed? Why is her ponytail so far from her head?

So now we're going to witness every movement of the courier as he inches his way to the arena.
Two days will now last for two long years!
Jukebox suggestion: the Police's "I'll Be Watching You." Every move you make, every step you take, I'll be watching you ...

Oh? Is the voice mail down that often?
"My good friend 'GEORGE WASHINGTON' will underscore the fact that this letter is very IM-portant"...
(Courier winks at us on his way out of the building, dropping said envelope into the trash can).
One thing I will say. The pace of this story makes ANY soccer game seem downright speedy by comparison.

Twenty bucks that the Dr. Drew lookalike courier will take the message to the wrong arena.
Now....are you ready for some foootballllll?

Nothing but the best in uniforms, including epaulettes, for Santa Royalty couriers.
@Elaine & Punky: you know messengers and soccer players, they all look alike. Some of my best friends are messengers and soccer players.
The naming of all the characters with the last name of Black certainly does make it easier to keep up with this breakneck storyline.
