Mary Worth 1,158

Yes, Mary, you were sooOoo instrumental in getting these two together. Gina's Liberian gypsy mother has put a curse on you for stealing credit from a dead woman.

Now for something wonderful: There's nothing like the weekend to visit the Welk Musical Family.

She's supposed to have this platitudinous, self-congratulatory conversation with Dr. Jeff. Is she not speaking to him?

Smug Mary keeps on boastin', boastin' in the Diner.

Um, if you were so instrumental in bringing these two together, where's your first class ticket to NYC and your suite at the Pierre for the big wedding??

Hell, where's your follow-up thank you call from Gina?

Here she comes to save the day, la de da de da de da.

Three things: (1)Our readers have hit the proverbial head on the nail with comments about Mary's excessive boastage. The Bible says: "God opposes the proud, but favors the humble." (2) The guy in panel one was asked to move so the "artist" could use the available light to emphasize Mary's flawless skin texture; (3) Christmas will soon be here. Go on ebay and find back copies of Mary Worth newspaper cartoons and magazines and lets give them to each other as gifts. I did this several years ago and the recipient was never happier.

And how long are we going to be subjected to this post Gina and Bobby wrap-up? Moy, wake up and smell the Diner coffee - we want arguments/hoarders/binge shoppers/alcoholics... Let's move on!

wv: doent, as in 'we doent want to take it any more'

The new storyline is going to focus on Mary helping someone open a new beauty salon in SR to help all the style-challenged women get better hairdos. Alison will be the first customer.

More scary plants. Perhaps Diner's cook harvests the leaves for Diner's Special Salads. Meanwhile, Mary distracts yet another waitress from the customers. Makes me wonder how Diner has ANY patrons!

Dr, Jeff doesn't seem to have any luck 'helping it along'. How many times has he proposed? Like this plot, it's time for Dr. Jeff to move along too.

Good points, Phoebes, and I'll add, why the heck didn't Gina even let Mary know she was leaving? She could have called, or texted, or emailed, or sprung out from behind a carnivorous plant, or sent a smoke signal, or SOMETHING.

I think Ms. Alison needs to be fixed up with the Santa Royale Support Sox's (correct plural?) best player, Robby Black.

Once Mary sits down for a few hours drinking coffee with Alison the Manager at Diner will politely (or harshly) ask Mary to leave and not to come back.

Word verification is "manta" - as in, For years Gina's been yearning for a particular manta make her life complete, but somehow we're supposed to believe this could only happen if she neglected her job at Diner by drinking gallons of coffee with an elderly customer who turns out to be a world-class meddler. No wonder we're addicted to this clever blog!

I agree with Phoebes, Petunia, et al., who are eager to have things move along, but I fear we are in for yet more recap. For our next story, I'd love to see a few loose ends tied up on recent stories: Jill, Drew, Adrian and Scott (but please, no more Wilbur and Dawn!). Perhaps we can learn more about C. Everett Koop, back in the hospital.

In today's strip I can't seem to get past "She certainly deserves it! She worked hard!" Are we talking about the same Gina here? I'm thinking that might have been a shout-out to us here.

And her former coworker has the "insight" to say that Gina was so easy to work with. Whenever did Gina work?
