Emily Smith. Ten. Blond. Blue eyes. Girl. There really aren't that many details to remember, so that's probably why you can remember them despite your dementia.
Mary! I feel your pain. I have to admit to a perverse pleasure in seeing the hallways of Mountview Hospital again. Look! A clipboard! Two nurses chatting, one of which might possibly be Liza with a Z! Dr. Drew might show up at any moment!! Remember the ghastly awkwardness of Liza's surprise party for him? Nothing interesting has ever happened in Diner. However, I would put up with a month of Diner if I never have to see that Missing poster floating freeform in the air one more time....
(Who thinks Mary might see Missing Emily while she's picking up her sweater at Diner?)
Over the weekend, as Mary was leaving the diner, she passed a man and a young girl - with dark hair. Could it have been our missing Emily and her kidnapper? I bet if Mary goes back to get her sweater she will stumble on to something.
We haven't seen this much excellent continuity of an image since Bonnie?Bonnie Johnson??!! and her husband's shadowy images graced the sliding glass doors of their apartment, keeping exactly the same pose for days at a time.
The absence of a question mark on that poster ("Have you seen this girl") drives me bonkers every time the poster materializes. If I were at that supermarket, I'd pull out my Sharpie and add one. Missing punctuation is much worse than a missing sweater, Mary.
Oh no, not Diner again! Not another Allison encounter! Someone recently commented that Amy and Allison have the same haircut. Maybe Allison is Amy's daughter.
Since much of the population of Santa Royale is blond-haired and blue-eyed, more details would be helpful.
Those two nurses giggling over the clipboard are really unnerving me. What new humorous code has the doctor used? "MFC" (Measure for coffin) was getting old.
As has been noter there is no phone number to respond to the missing child information. If the girl is seen I gusess the correct course of action would be to write the information at the bottom of the poster..
"Yes! I saw her walk by here with her non-custodial father a few minutes ago. Her father is wearing blue jeans with an unwashed brown sweatshirt. His hair is also unwashed, so I know he must be the villain"
Or does the "forgetting things + Diner" tie-in take us full circle to the original story we thought we were getting when Mary walked into the diner and met Liza? Remember she wanted a salad after her medical testing?
Maybe Moy and Giella will be slowly killing Mary off (because slow is the only way this strip does anything), and all the characters past will come to 'help' Mary, returning the 'favor' she did them.
It does fit, but that would be way too forward looking a plot plan.
@KitKat - What bothers me about the poster (besides the lack of punctuation) is that there is no information about who one should contact if they HAVE seen her...
Perhaps Mary has better luck recalling the details of the "missing Child" photo since it seems to float along with her, frame to frame, daya to day, week to week.......
When she goes to Diner, perhaps the two no-eyed thieves will be dining there, in company with Emily, whom they've kidnaped. Emily will also be wearing those mirrored shades---and Mary's sweater. Allison and Mary will confer amongst themselves and plan a take-down of the thieving kidnapers. Mary (sotto voce): Okay, Allison, you hit them with the potted plant while I smash the coconut cake on their heads.
Mary's preoccupation with this missing girl is pretty weird - unless, of course, she had something to do with it. In that case, it makes perfect sense.

"I forgot my sweater at the diner."
No, Mary! No! Whatever you do, please don't go to Diner to retrieve your sweater. We just got out of there. I'm begging you not to drag us back in.

Maybe this Moy's way of saying the strip is too much for her? Wow.
What a downer.

The photocopier proved helpful then, too.

Although, upon further consideration, the simple face touch morphing into a full lateral face grab, is pretty darn cool.

I believe this story is a metaphor for what Mary Worth readers have lost since Moy took over. We don't have anyone to call either.
You know, I can usually figure out the new plot line pretty quickly on these strips, but this one has me puzzled.
"Missing white, blonde, Christian girl"? "Mary's incipient dementia"? "Another hospital/diner love story?"
Anybody got a clue I can buy?
Next strip: Mary's (late) husband comes out of the shower and (young hot) Mary realizes that the last 80years were just a dream.
lol @ Meg!!!! So that would mean that the last 20-some years of storylines (yes, all nine of them) were merely fiction???
Is Suzanne Vega's ''Tom's Diner'' going through anyone else's head?

I think Emily herself put up the posters, and does not want anyone to find her.
If we do go back to Diner, will find that Marys's sweater has been stolen, too?
I hope Santa brings me a box of Flak this year.

Next we will see posters with Mary's sweater on them... ("Have you seen this sweater?")
Hey, did anyone check to see if she was even wearing a sweater at the diner in previous strips?
I think Mary has forgotten Jeff as well. So many details to keep up with! "Now where did I leave my boyfriend?"

Thorpnotized: Have you seen this sweater? Hilarious, thanks!

I suspect that Mary left all her credit cards in the pockets of her cardigan. But, not to worry, she made a list of all of them.
I can't wait to see Mary doodling, making up songs, and playing interactive games (by herself). She'll be placed in the nursing home in no time.
Look, it's Mary's kid sister and her beau!
Is that Liza with a ZZZZ back at Mountview? She looks very happy wo be back.
