Mary Worth 1,252

You know who else wouldn't approve of Nola's actions? Mr. Rogers. And I'm pleased to announce that one of my absolute favorite books, I'm Proud of You, has just been released for Kindle. Jeff Cory? Are you listening? This wonderful book is the true story of the unlikely and inspiring friendship between sports writer Tim Madigan and my hero Fred Rogers. I can't say enough good things about this book, and I hope you'll take the time to read it.

So now Toby's in on the Smithers caper. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Three people may keep a secret, if two of them are dead." The Gossip Mill is revving up--I foresee a trip to Dan's tenement to give him the news.

Between yesterday and today, Toby's pointing fingers are getting quite the workout! That girl is poised for... something! Try it at home: point with your left, now point with your right. Repeat.

Feels good and tough!

Mr. Rogers would so not be proud of Nola right now, but I'm sure she's going to have some kind of moral epiphany by the time Mary is through with her. Let's all gift Nola a copy of that book, she could use it! Thanks for sharing, Wanders.

Toby has a point.

Toby's got a stranglehold on Eggo Junior! Only a matter of time before Eggo leaves Fancy Restaurant and goes on the attack.

The way Toby is grimacing like a tiger with a thorn in its paw, I wouldn't be surprised if her next line was "You wouldn't like me when I get angry."

Then, she turns green -- much like the same shade of green as Mary's vegetable ..... uh, creation, that she served a few weeks back -- and goes on a rampage in Santa Royale.

Anonymous, I'm imagining an Eggo Junior v. The Incredible Toby standoff.

Toby is such an airhead. Her head doesn't even cast a solid shadow on Mary...

I loved Mr Rogers!

But his head would explode after 2 minutes in the Worthiverse.

BTW, I hope the spammer bots are having as much trouble reading the code words as I am.

Mary's choker has become shorter since yesterday's strip. For a second, I wondered if Nola had sneaked up behind her and tried to throttle her.

Remind me to never confide to Mary about ANYTHING. She will be sure to blab to Toby all of the intimate details (which will manifest in one or those horrid clown paintings).

Shouldn't Mary be asking Toby why she's removed her wedding ring?

There's "some kind of weird, tarnished, post-apocalyptic version of the Emerald City in the background." *

The sidewalk is large and road-like. Mary is wearing brick-yellow.

In the second panel, you can see a small tornado between Mary and Toby.

They are in Oz!

Nola is trying to find her way home to Self Esteemia.

MarCrow and TobTob are about to encounter the IanMan and the Wilburly Lion. At some point they will have to vanquish the VapidWitch of DawnWeston, who will sic her flying salmon squares upon them. The WastedWitch of the East features Jill Black, in an unbilled role.

It all ends badly (just as it started out).

*Thanks, Beagle vet.

I'm relieved they're back on solid pavement as I always get a little worried when anyone is out in that weird "varied landscape" of Santa Royale.

It always looks like the type of terrain a serial killer would hide in. Or even Charlie "Well, helloooooo there" Smith, who is bad enough. And prolly Smithers goes out there to drink now, and thinks about how much he hates Nola!...

Brilliant, Meg! I think you've figured out Moy's ploy!

I would LOVE to see an evil flying salmon square.

I'm seeing Wilbur, Chinbeard, and Jeff as the Lollipop Guild. Emily from Goleta was in the running for the Lullaby League but after snorking up all of those kelkies, she couldn't fit into her tutu.

Does anyone else think that the friend's husband whom Nola had an affair with could have been Toby?

I know that's disgusting but, I have to wonder why Toby has such strong feelings against Nola.

What's the Worthiverse record for the most consecutive days of characters saying the same things over and over and over and over...?

heydave said...

Records are meant to broken; platitudes are meant to be repeated!

Oh, I'm hoping Mary and Toby will go all mean girls on Nola!
Of course, nothing is worth having if it means hurting others to get it.

I think hurting someone, anyone, in Santa Royale would be worth it.
