Mary Worth 1,323

It sounds time consuming AND boring, the perfect Mary Worth plot!

Wilbur stuffs another muffin into his mouth, as Mary's coffee cup levitates on its own. As to the "Ask Wendy" column being time-consuming, Wilbur doesn't seem to devote a whole lot of effort to writing it. Besides, what has Mary got to do with her time other than frustrating Dr. Jeff, cooking ugly food, and meddling? Oh, sure, there's the volunteer work, but that's just organized meddling, and becoming MaryWendy will be just more of the same.

Yes, very time consuming responding to two questions a day. Then again, when you immerse yourself in your questioner's (med-lee's) life, showing u at their work, I guess it could begin to consume a lot of time.

In other news, I read on a tech site that 'Game of Thrones' was the most pirated show in the last year. I'd prefer a plot line where the FBI storms Charterstone in search f Dawn. Maybe she is really fleeing to Italy.

Muffin? It looks like maybe Wilbur slipped a piece of fried chicken out of his pocket. He needs his strength, for his demanding job.

Obviously Wilbur isn't that impressed with Mary's advice-giving since he isn't asking her for any advice on how to deal with Dawn. The slight may cause Wilbur great pain - and he may not have any readers left after the summer.

Wow. Just Wow. So, what we have discovered is that Mary is A) lazy and B) devoid of any desire to try anything new. She is old, slightly cranky, and set in her ways.

Now, can you imagine if one of her Friends came to her and said, "Mary, I just don't know what to do! I was offered this amazing opportunity to fill in for a friend at his job, giving troubled people advice, but I've never done this before, and it sounds like it will take a great deal of my time." Mary would be ALL OVER THAT!

She would bust her prim gut with, "Now, dear, think! You give wonderful advice to your friends each day, and besides your pottery and gerbil-farming on the weekend, what, really, do you have to fill your days? Of course you shall take it! And you can donate the money to the Save The Charterstone Whales Foundation!"

Good thing the muffin is the exact same color as the couch -- hides the crumbs.

You know, I don't often comment on the artwork in this "comic" - other than to note Giella's characters look an awful lot like those in 1960's "true love" comic books - BUT, that muffin has taken on a life of its own.

I can't figure out if the couch is eating the muffin or if the muffin is eating the couch. And I will add to the chorus that says Wilbur never seems too busy answering his ton of "Ask Wendy" letters.

Perhaps Wilbur is supposed to personify hedonistic food consuming for this comic strip. t Regardless of how much food is pictured, NOBODY but Wilbur is ever depicted as actually EATING anything. Mary might daintily sip coffee, might bake those muffins, might whip up that green/beige casserole she serves her guests, but the only person I've seen putting food anywhere near his mouth has been Wilbur Weston. . . . Is this accidental? I think not.. . .He's also the only actually pudgy character in the strip. . . A secret message about overdoing it?!

I don't know....It's time consuming. I've never done it before. What's it pay?

Oh, p'shaw... Mary's faux humility cannot hide the prying personality we all know is lurking beneath. Why the game? Time consuming? Sure, you may not be able to spend weeks at a stretch in a Diner, but is that so bad?

@Nance: Save the Charterstone Whales--LOL! Does that include Wilbur and Professor Chinbeard?

"oh Wilbur, I WOULD do it, yes...but... my Vic 20 is on the highest shelf in my bedroom closet and my tall kitchen stool is ONLY for the kitchen, you see. So unfortunately I will have to decline your kind offer. Now would you care for another muffin?"

I wonder what Mary put in those muffins, anyway. Up until today, Wilbur's eyes were blue, and now they're brown. (They may have been brown yesterday too, but it's hard to tell for sure.)

Dear Wendy,

Is it true that you are a pudgy, middle-aged man who eats nothing but sandwiches and muffin tops?

Sincerely,

Disillusioned

This makes one wonder who Karen Moy REALLY is.

Look out, Wilbur! That muffin's going for your throat!

Who eats a muffin from the side like an apple? Does Wilbur's neck even bend?
