Mary Worth 1,324

Hey, Mister, watch where you're pointing that thing... er, those things? It's hard to point when you have two pointer fingers.

On June 15, 2007, I decided to post a comment about Mary Worth on a personal blog I was trying to start. And "Mary Worth and Me" was born. I don't know how to celebrate Mary and my fifth anniversary together. Any suggestions? Kelkies and salmon squares? A little shrimp scampi? Or perhaps a lingering dinner at a nameless diner.

Happy Anniversary! Congratulations on your Fifth Year with this blog. I'm sure you'll find a way to do it justice. This featured panel is just the beginning.

Yikes. Ol' Six Fingers Weston (formerly Wilbur) really looks aggressive and belligerent with his phalanges "all up in Mary's grill" as my students would say. I guess we all should have seen it coming, what with his sugar addiction and his overeating. That extra poundage had to result in something, and a surplus finger...well, whatever.

Could this be a conjoined absorbed twin? That would explain the voracious appetite.

Theory #2: That extra finger is a sewn-on "trophy" from one of his serial killings. (Wilbur says to Dawn, "Life is brutal? I'll show you brutal!")

Maybe "Italian Villa" is a euphemism for human torture chamber / butcher shop. It would serve Dawn right for being such a self-absorbed whiner. I guess we will know if we see Wilbur come back to the U.S. alone and with yet another FREAK digit added to his ever-expanding blob of a presence.

Here's to hoping SOMETHING interesting will come out of this.

Maybe the extra finger on Wilber's right hand came from his amputated left hand - which was replaced by a coffee cup.

I'm just so glad we got away from whiny Dawn (life is brutal that way) and focus instead... for weeks... on Wilbur, his dead boss, his bad Italian, and Mary's coyness.

And Wanders, don't forget to do tequila shots off the waitress' tummies at the Bum Boat tonight!

Dang! Did Wilbur eat all five muffins himself? He really ballooned up since 6/11's strip.

Congrats to you, Wanders! And thanks for giving us fellow "Worthheads" a place to express ourselves regarding all things Mary Worth.

Congrats on 5 years - I think a pool party would be a great way to celebrate!

Got this link from joshreads.com - an interview with Karen Moy about Dawn:

Good Lord, Wanders. You've been doing this for five years? You've been carrying on with another woman - Mary Worth - instead of your own good wife? I think you should definitely take her out on the town - as suggested by others, to the Bum Boat or Diner - and try to make it up to her!

One way to celebrate 5 years of Mary worth would be a nice long snooze. Congreats, it's been fun.

Happy 5th Anniversary, Wanders! Thank you for providing this engaging forum for all of us. It keeps life from being so brutal! To celebrate, why don't you treat Mrs. Wanders to dinner at the revolving restaurant: Luna's/Mr. J's. You'll start out indoors, then will be whisked to the patio, then back indoors, then....

I can hardly wait to see how Wilbur trains Mary, especially since he never seems to work on "Ask Wendy" himself. He's really doing the hard sell!

POOL PARTY! Anything else would be an injustice. Congratulations on five years of Worthiness.

BTW, am I the only one who remembers a toy that came out during the "Get Smart"/"Man from UNCLE" era called Six Finger? You held it in your hand and it looked like you were pointing a sixth finger...only it had a hole in the end of it and it fired little plastic bullets.

Happy anniversary, Wanders! To thank you for being such an important part of our lives, I have arranged for a wonderful vacation for you and your wife. Enjoy the Four Seasons in Bora Bora!

Well done, Wanders! Here's to many more. This blog is a refreshing break from reality!

As far as today's strip is concerned, I think the second "pointy appendage" IS actually Wilbur's thumb. He may have been paid a visit by a Mob enforcer. That would explain his sudden need to visit Italy.

Congrats on your fifth anniversary, Wanders! I see that Joe Giella has produced some spectacular artwork in your honor.

Wilbur's right hand is especially disturbing today. In the first panel, it has been replaced by his LEFT hand, which has in turn been replaced by a coffee cup.

In the second panel, the right hand is back in place, but with at least two extra fingers and no thumb.

While almost his entire left arm has been replaced by...MARY'S HEAD!!!!

Aieeeee!

Mr. Giella will be 84 on June 27th! We should send flowers. Or a gift certificate to Diner.

Okay, I just read the interview with Ms. Moy (thanks for the link, Anonymous)...and that strip with Dawn and Drew is from 2007! When Dawn would have been...FOURTEEN!

(Yes, I'm just that pathetic that I zoomed in on the date of the strip.)

Even though we all know that time in the Worthiverse is slowed to almost a dead (and I do mean dead) stop, even if Dawn has been 19 for the past several years, isn't it kind of creepy that Drew would date her?

Happy, happy anniversary, Wanders, and thank you for providing a safe haven for so many of us.

Now, as to Wilbur's adult-onset polydactylism, it may be worse than we thought. None of those appendages appears to be a thumb. Could there be as many as seven digits on that hand?

Can't wait to see how Wilbur "trains" Mary. A clicker and treats worked pretty well with my puppy.

six finger, six finger, man alive! How did I ever get along with five? It was a cold war superspy's best weapon. Is Wilbur's "Ask Wendy" a cover for his true profession?

Congratulations on five years.
That's for leading us through the lunacy of Santa Royle.

Meant to type "Thanks for leading us..."
