Mary Worth 1,325

Wilbur's menacing snarl and Mary's look of terror practically guarantees that this will indeed be an exciting change of pace. Very exciting!

I followed everyone's advice last night and took my wife out for dinner to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Mary Worth and Me. We brought our 12 year old along. At one point she said, "I find practically all cartoon food to be appealing." I asked her if she ever read Mary Worth.

Great comments yesterday! I particularly enjoyed fauxprof's about training Mary with a clicker and treats (kelkies?). I keep getting this mental image of Mary poised in front of a typewriter, her limp hands hovering above the keys like a begging dog, panting, tongue hanging out the side of her mouth as she looks up Wilbur, who is standing next to her with his clicker and treats.

My anti-robot words: "Odenture 66" - Mary's favorite brand of denture cleaner.

I appreciate how we, The Readers, are being enthused for this new storyline by the increased use of exclamation points! How can we help but be excited when everything Wilbur Six Fingers says ends with a (!)?! I feel my own life paling by comparison! Now, in an effort to jazz up my own Pathetic Existence, I will use exclamation points exclusively!

Have a great weekend! I'm going to clean my garage!

I'm worried about Wilbur's insistence that Mary's tenure is only for the Summer. Not to accuse Moy of anything so subtle as foreshadowing, but this could mean that Wilbur will Never Come Back! (insert scary music cue here.)

To echo Nance, I've got to go change the sheets and towels! And get some laundry started!!

Yes, just reading all those gray-covered books would keep Mary busy for the next decade at least.

Gaa, Wilbur looks so maniacal in the second panel! Tomorrow he'll be chasing Mary around her living room, hurling muffin crumbs at her, until she gives in an agrees to "temporarily" assume the column. BTW, since Wilbur is "Wendy," will Mary be "Marvin" or "Melvin"?

Wilbur is obviously contemplating the possibility of Mary becoming more than temp. Mary and advice, such a novel pairing. Wilbur, what have you done?

Mary and Wilbur are both so excited about this new idea that they keep jumping around, sitting first on the sofa and next on that little coffee table. I believe they just sat on the muffins, if there were any left. This is probably the most exercise Wilbur has had since that kite-flying adventure.

I think the line quality of the drawings looks different the last couple of days. I'm suspecting another artist is filling in for 'ol Joe. (Maybe Joe is in Italy visiting Giorgio?)

Mary acts like she's all "too busy" for this Ask Wendy nonsense! Wait til she starts writing the column; she'll probably go on a Power Trip and Wilbur will have to PRY Mary's fingers off the computer to get his job back.

And Dawn, being Dawn, will still be a loser, with a future as black as the bottom of Mary's cup!

Mmmm, cartoon food. Gimme more of those salmon squares! Then, again, I may have been on Weight Watchers for too long...

One summer in the Worthiverse is going to be how many months (years?) in the real world? We may be discussing this storyline next summer.

KitKat, I think Methuselah is the best alliterative name for Mary's column persona! How many orange sofas does Mary have?!

I'm visiting my parents! My crazy cat chased ducks today! Tomorrow is Father's Day! Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Wanders, I'm worried about your daughter's taste buds! Maybe she needs to see Doctor to have them checked! Then she can say hi to Hospital Hi-Fi for us!
