Mary Worth, 1,327

Could this possibly mean we're going to get to spend the summer in Italy with Wilbur Weston? Oh, joys... No, no. Be still my heart. At any moment we could be "Meanwhile, back at Mary's typewriter." I won't believe it until I'm actually standing inside the Colosseum.

On the positive side, she's off the couch, is capable of speech other than "Life is brutal", and Evil Teddy is nowhere in evidence. However, she's back in her purple jammies and has a bad case of the adolescent "whatevers".

Look, Wilbur, just drag her to the airport as is. It'll make getting through security easier, and you won't have to pay to check her luggage. Promise to buy her a whole new purple wardrobe in Italy. You seem to be made of money.

Is it just me, or is Dawn's pose a little uncomfortably Mrs. Robinson? It's made especially creepy by the fact that it's Wilbur standing at the door.

Punky@8.18a - I had the same reaction. And I just don't want to go there...

This trip to Italy materialized so quickly, I wonder if Wilbur and Dawn got their passports. Imagine the scene at Santa Royale International Airport as they are denied boarding. How brutal will that be? Then Wilbur will have to arm-wrestle Mary for control of "Ask Wendy."

Thankfully, Dawn has finally worn out her "Game of Thrones" DVDs.

I have been neglecting to check the secret messages that Wanders adds to the daily blog strip panels. There were some good ones I missed, especially today's. I keep hoping that we will indeed see Wilbur and Dawn in Italy, at least to confirm my suspicions that the dreaded pink curtains are in fact a international Worthiverse phenomenon.

I think the money for the Italy trip would be bettter spent setting Dawn up her own apartment.

Thorpnotized...Wanders secret message today addresses the pink curtains! See, it looks like Wilbur is packing pink curtains to take with him to Italy

(He's probably got to take a whole extra suitcase for the signature throw pillows too....I'm picturing a scene similar to the one with the two guys in the movie Best in Show, bringing tapestries and accent pillows with them and redocorating their hotel room to better suit their sensibilities.)

So is Dawn rejecting technology now? First obsessing with her smart phone, then immersed in the bootleg dvd version of GOT, and now she is merely reading printed newspapers. Weird.

Also, if Mary doesn't offend the "fan" base (a few old ladies like herself most likely) of Ask Wendy then Wilbur is looking at, at best, a major pay cut (possibly to zero?) when he returns.

I'll 3rd Punky and Phoebes comment as soon as i rinse that taste out of my mouth.

I like how Wilbur is leaving nothing to chance with Mary temporarily taking over, preparing to pack his 'Carnac the Magnificent" advice turban for the trip, just in case he needs to quickly step back in.

Thorp, thanks for reminding people to read their free secret messages. I always smile when someone posts the same gag as the secret message because it validates the brilliance of a particular secret message.

Wanders, Thorp, I love the secret messages, especially today, since I've been particularly snarky about the ubiquitous pink curtains.

Packing is brutal.
