Poor Dawn indeed. The last thing she needed after Dave dumped her was a shipwreck. That's what I call bad timing.
Today's Full Strip
Look at that smile. She planned it! She planned all of it!
Poor Dawn? how about "poor dead drowned people"? And Mary looks pretty danged happy about the whole thing..I was hoping we'd get to see more of Marys work on the ask Wendy column during these past WeeksDear Wendy, everyone inn my family is dead and I have no money and live in a paperbag on the yellow line inn the middle of the road, please help. Signed, Distressed.dear distressed, have you heard about Dawn and he boyfriend? It just goes to show, life is what you make it.
Oh, no! Mary's apartment building also struck a big rock! Or it's being swallowed up by a huge sinkhole. Either way, Mary and the other residents are in big trouble, since Charterstone is not equipped with lifeboats.
"Poor Dawn" she thinks. With a big grin no less.
Let's see...cut-rate condo building sliding between the tectonic plates, check. Orange sofa against pink drapes, check. Clueless, meddlesome old lady completely missing the point, check. There's no place like home, Dorothy.
Poor Dawn; don't you just hate when that happens?
Why does Mary have a photo of Herman Munster on her table?
@Steven W.--Perfect!Why did Wilbur call Mary in the first place? (I know, I know: M&G had to have some way to insert MW into the fray.)I just consulted Roget's, and did not find "incident" as a synonym for "shipwreck", "tragedy", or "disaster."But, whew! That Dawn! Further proof of her Initial Wisdom that Life Is Indeed Brutal! First Dave dumps her, then she gets dragged all over Italy with her dull father, then she gets stuck on a sinking ship, and now she's probably on a hard, narrow cot in a school gym with salami sandwiches and bottled water instead of flavorful vegetables. Gosh! And I thought Life In Ohio was rough!
What is with this obsession with everyone feeling sorry for Dawn?!? Instead of taking her to Italy, Wilbur should've sent her to work at a homeless shelter or something. Let her see what 'life is brutal' REALLY means!!And what's up with the 'leaning tower of Charterstone'?
I haven't seen a more gleeful expression on Mary's face since the September 11, 2011 strip. Egad.
i think mary looks 10 years younger. perhaps she had the botox
I miss a week on vacation, and apparently I miss nothing. What I want to know is how 'Ask Wendy" did with Mary at the helm. Will Wilbur get his job back? Has it been renamed 'Ask Mary' with Wilbur gone?
I hope Wilbur called Iris Beedle, too. And his editor.
Hey! Who just vomited on my shoes? Thanks, Mary...
Wow, Mary's words are now having their own thoughts. Is there no end to Mary's magic?
Back on June 29th - there was a row of hedges behind the sofa. Now it's a pine tree. The landscapers at Charterstone have been busy. Why shoud we expect continuity across time, when we can't get it across panels?
Mary looks so fetching today! Wait, though, have we EVER seen her sitting down like this without a cup of Coffee before? Something's wrong here.
