Where are they? In panel one, they're in front of a big pane-glass window. In panel two, they're outside near a big carnival tent (or is it an umbrella?). Judging from the tree, they've also transported to the Pacific Northwest.
Yes, what about Dawn? Didn't the news reports focus on her? Forget about those poor victims or their devastated families!
Notice how Toby's face lighted up when she asked, "How's Dawn?" She's hoping that Mary replies, "The poor girl is devastated!" Schadenfreude is the only thing that adds excitement to Toby's dull life with Professor Chinbeard and clown painting.
Yesterday, the Camerons had concerned expressions. Today, they show self-satisfied smirks. You see, they weren't worried whether Dawn and Wilbur were physically all right, they were worried that they might have to lend them money to get home. Now that they know it's just bumps and bruises and horrific psychological trauma, they are quite relieved.
meg, you rock, girl. I wish someone would slip Mary a copy of the actual Fifty Shades of Gray. She'd be shocked into a state of speechless catatonia (devoutly to be wished).
Is Mary strangling Toby in today's Featured Panel?
I, too, am vastly amused by Toby's smirkety-smirk in Panel Two. Does she have some long-standing animosity towards Dawn? Was she standing outside the Weston Windows, watching as Dawn wallowed and wailed, "Life Is Brutal" over and over again?
IS DAVE HER LONG-LOST SON, GIVEN UP AT BIRTH AFTER A SHAMEFUL FLING WITH...ALDO KELRAST? COULD THAT BE WHY SHE IS SO INTERESTED IN--AND SECRETLY SATISFIED BY--THE VAGARIES OF DAWN'S HEARTBREAK?
(Now, see, THIS is what M&G have reduced me to. I'm so ashamed....)
Peggy Olson@7:09 AM - I'm not sure why you're confused about the difference between the two panels today. Look at yesterday's strip, and you will see that they are standing outside, I'm guessing on some sort of patio. The panels today are simply from different angles.
Maybe Mary should be reading The Picture of Dorian Gray since it seems she has aged a decade since Monday. In fact, today her chin looks so long it might be time for some plastic surgery intervention just to keep it off the floor. I bet she would look a lot more perky (no pun intended) if she and Toby were sporting their usual coffee cups. .. .
@Kit Kat--I noticed the smile too. Reminded me of yesterday's Modern Family repeat where one of the characters smiles as a coping mechanism everytime she tells people someone died.
As a follow up to yesterday, when Chinbeard noted "You never expect your friends to be part of an incident you see in the news", I was expecting him to add, "at least it was just Wilbur and Dawn."
Apparently he also forgot the news article on "drunken woman removed forcibly from wedding reception."

I'm LOVING Toby's hair tattoo.
Isn't that the Brawny guy?

Does anyone know how Dawn is?
Is it just me, or is Professor Chinbeard morphing from a pompous man to a pompous woman?
