Mary Worth 1,403

When Dawn rounds the corner and smacks into her first love, it'll a good thing her tray is empty. Unfortunately, it's still shiny metal, which should make quite a loud clatter when it hits the floor.

Today's Full Strip

I think it is empty because of the slanted way she is holding it. Her lunch is already on the floor.

Yep, way to start a volunteer job, or any job. Let's take a break right away.

Actually, "first food of the day" is not surprising, if she was really in her apparent age group. I've seen students scarfing down a raw poptart for breakfast in a 1 pm class!

Oh, that Dawn!

With the Incident still fresh in her young, impressionable heart, she approaches her volunteer job with One Thing on her mind:

Herself.

1. I get college credit!
2. I finally get to eat now that orientation is out of the way!
3. I wonder what else is in this for me?

It does appear, however, that change is on the way. She's already dressing like Mary Worth.

(Wondering...why is milk on a shelf under some plates?)

The Hospital for Volunteers - ?? I thought Dawn was volunteering at Mountview Hospital. I foresee Dawn "meeting cute" with Drew or some other hapless doctor who's coming from the other direction with his own tray.

Apparently whatever liquid Dawn was gulping at breakfast yesterday was not considered to be food. As Wanders pointed out, Dawn was speaking as she drank, so maybe the glass was empty.

Mary must have coached Dawn to emulate Mary's style - Dawn is now wearing a purple blazer and pearls. Changed clothes in the restroom, I suppose, unless there's a volunteers' locker room.

I hope Dawn's already viewed the important orientation film and knows how not to be a Mr. Bungle.

"Are there any other first for me around the corner?"

Yes, let me be the first to hurl a heavy plate at your head!

Dawn, if you're still thirsty, try out some of that rancid milk sitting on the shelf.

I would love for an exciting confrontation between Dawn and Dr. Drew Cory, healer of hearts, breaker of hers.

If you'd like to learn how not to be a Mr. Bungle, you can watch the film here: Lunchroom Manners.

Happily, we're in a hospital where they can presumably treat the nausea this evolving "plot" creates.

Toots McGee@9:58 AM, thank you for providing the link - hilarious! I hope that tomorrow Dawn sits down at Mr. Bungle's table. Maybe she will think he's a doctor.

"Some people re-evaluate their lives and find a major LIFE CHANGE is ncessary after a big event!"

For Dawn, that would mean going back to school and volunteering at the hospital.

Dawn, can I talk you into eating a morsel of raw chicken to go with that sour milk?

That's not a tray; Dawn is walking around with a mirror.

First time I've seen cartons of milk displayed on a shelf below bowls and plates.

How is Dave going to be brought back in the fold? Perhaps he will be terminally ill in the hospital Dawn is volunteering at?

Dawn: Is this seat taken?
Bungle: Buurrppp...
Dawn: You remind me of Dave!
Bungle: Buurrppp...

Wait a minute, the strip from the day before shows Dawn wearing a purple v-neck long sleeved shirt, and now all of a sudden she's wearing a purple pantsuit with pearls? It's supposed to be the same day, is it not? And I'm noticing a theme here: Dawn's been wearing purple outfits for a while now.
