Mary Worth 1,451

By all means, Wilbur, shove your plate aside and eat right out of the casserole dish. After all, you do love food.

Yes, Wilbur, we are waiting for the shoe to drop...

Though it is probably a good idea to remind Dawn every few days just what she is doing. I'm not that confidant in her attention span.

I really, really like those Beams of Despair that emanate from Dawn.

Is Dawn sitting in a high-chair?

So, under the bacon-garnished lemon-potato chip crust lurks some horrible orangey goo. Salmon mush, maybe, or sweet potato? Either equally yucky, to my taste.

Dawn has been spilling her guts about Jim to Mary for weeks, now, yet has said absolutely nothing to her own father. This is a sad state of non-communication for a family that used to fly kites and get shipwrecked together. Sigh.

Santa Royale City Ordinance #485762: All residents must fill their bookshelves with dull gray books.

As if the horrid food weren't bad enough, we're confronted with Wilbur's chest hair (two inches below his chin) and wispy comb-over. Maybe that explains why Dawn's plate is empty. "Uhh, I'll just stick to water, Dad. I seem to have lost my appetite."

The only reason Wilbur is holding his plate up so high is that he is about to forgo the use of any silverware and just stick his face right into that glop.

I originally thought today's drawing of Dawn in the second panel might be partially recycled from a few weeks ago. So I checked and although it is quite similar, the October 18th panel is slightly different. But Dawn's head looks "squished" in both of them. I think Giella must have trouble drawing profiles of people. That or people in the Worthiverse have oddly shaped heads.

Wilbur is getting Dawn a heaping serving of kelk casserole, before diving deep into the casserole directly.

I enjoyed Wilbur's recap for Dawn of her own activities, in case she has forgotten that she's a college student or volunteer. Come to think of it, it appears she has forgotten.

@Thorpnotized: I got a visual when reading your comment of Wilbur as the little kid in the movie "Christmas Story" finishing his plate of mashed potatoes.

Don't forget to vote today! Pick someone you like, or hold your nose and select the lesser of two evils.

I was disappointed that we didn't have a scene today of Mary in the gym of Santa Royale H.S.quizically looking at her butterfly ballot, pointer finger in the air, with exclamation marks emanating from her head.

@Dave in Parma: I had hoped to see Mary as a volunteer poll worker, sitting at a table, checking voters' IDs, having them sign the register, and offering advice on how to vote.

@fauxprof--This is a sad state of non-communication for a family that used to fly kites and get shipwrecked together. Sigh. LOL!

Wilbur: Dawn, you're going to school, volunteering, and cooking these worky dinners. Then you sit down with your dear old dad to eat every night, too. When are you going to find a nice guy and leave me the heck alone so that I can spend time with my new girlfriend, Joy?

Dawn: Isn't this Triple Bacon Potato Chip Lemon Squash casserole delicious? I--

Wilbur: Reminds me of Joy.

Yes, it's been too long since a recap, everything happens so fast, it's easy to get lost in the blinding pace.

Since when is Dawn a college student and also volunteering? If Wilbur hadn't mentioned it, I don't think Dawn would have known.

Yes,Dad (blush). I'm seeing a one armed man with psychological issues who is attracted to me because I look like his dead sister. I really think I can help him with his fear of the water. Go Moy!!! No, I really mean it. Please go.

Go ahead, Wilbur, remind her that she's a loser at love.

Maybe she'll return to Game of Thrones and grow an extra arm, like she did at the beginning of this story... Last MAY !?

Speaking of Joy ~ yes! The extra arm! What brilliant foreshadowing of the Jim plot twist.
