Mary Worth 1,453

Oh, I don't know. I could think of a few scenarios. But I can't write about it now because my daughter is screaming at me that I need to take her to school so she can explore herself and see her friends.

Wilbur and Dawn truly dwell in the Dining Room of Mysteries.

Today, there is a trio of vaguely Asian drawings on the wall behind her. Earlier, it was a wall-colored dresser of some kind with books on it - possibly a built-in?

I simply can't figure out where the window we've occasionally seen is supposed to be, and there may - but only may - be a buffet/sideboard of some sort behind Wilbur (I'd have been less surprised if it were a pie safe).

Next to all this, the shifting nature of the bacon-custard casserole pales into insignificance. Kind of like Moy's plots.

At first I thought that Uncle Joe had just given up, making the background as bland and boring as the dialogue. Then I looked closely at today's depiction of Dawn. She's simpering coyly and doing Bambi-eyes. It's part of her ploy to convince Wilbur and everyone around her that she's still a teenager. Thirty-twoteen is more like it!

Well, I think Wanders' assessment is correct. This storyline is limping, with a bunch of inane and empty dialog worthy of Mary's computer, to its inevitable end on Sunday.

What will Sunday's pithy quote be, and by whom?

Will Wilbur and Dawn still be at dinner, clutching skinny milk glasses and enclosed by dated and horribly clashing decor? Will Dawn's heart necklace suddenly make an appearance?

Or will Jim, crazed by concern and seized by a psychotic episode in which he is convinced that DawnMerry is dangerously close to taking a bath, burst into her condo and wrestle Wilbur to the ground with his good arm?

Gosh, would that be cool or what?

Did you say friends? As in ONLINE friends? Oh Wilbur, lets not go down that road with Dawn again.

Dawn, I regret to tell you that your lack of self-awareness, paucity of outside interests, and disconnection with reality, you will be finding yourself for a VERY long time.

Meanwhile, WHAT ABOUT JOY?!

Whoops, I neglected to type "with" after "that."

Freedom from having to pay for food and lodging. Freedom from attending class. Freedom from following the standard rules of hospital volunteer engagement.

Wilbur's 'you can never have too many friends' comment really comes across like "I wish I had at least one friend....'

Nance- Hope you're right about a tussle between Jim and Wilbur. I tend to think it'll be a fist fight. 'And Jim throws a left, and a left, and another left."

(Thanks, SNL)

True, you can't have too many friends. But it's not really an issue with Dawn considering she maybe has exactly one, an obsessively protective nutbag.

@ Wilbur - You need to know that Jim (outpatient) PROPOSED (a move to safer ground) because he is SERIOUS(ly missing his dead sister). And Dawn, enjoying her FREEDOM (to comply), agreed. Unlike before (her Teddy), today's Dawn EXPLORES everything (a casserole) and everyone (Mary Worth) ... before getting serious about anything (Wilbur, she never goes to class) or anyone.

In any case ... Dawn, the sum total of all her experiences, will NEVER have too many friends.

I would like to point out the recent return of the exclamation mark. Has anyone else noticed how many sentences ended in plain periods during the last few weeks? Even sentences where an exclamation mark would actually have been justified. I consider this proof that Ms. Moy reads this blog and tries to placate us in our never ending complaining and whining. But I guess it could only last so long! The exclamation mark is making a return! Oh, well!
Back to the exciting wrap up!
I’m still struggling to accept that Dawn is a TEENAGER!!!!!

Dawn must have a very old soul.

Look at the EYES! The crazy, crazy eyes!

@Shmoopie: I'm guessing it wasn't becuase Moy was trying to placate us, but that Uncle Joe was too bored with the plot to go to the effort of drawing the line above the period.

I did this so you wouldn't have to. Paid 1 month subscription to DailyInk, in quest of non-ironic Mary Worth readers.

I believe that Karen Moy should pay attention when both her non-ironic readers and the commenters of MW&M say the same things. She may safely ignore the tawdry interwebs.

I hope that Uncle Joe lives to be 100.

I think Dawn is discussing Bhuddism and Enlightenment, and Wilbur is talking about ham sandwiches.
