Mary Worth 1,492

Deep down? If 600 text messages and 47 voice mails is "deep down," than look out when Dawn becomes demonstrative.

And what is Jim thinking? Does he mean he hasn't given up on their friendship? Or does he mean, "One day, one day YOU will be mine, sister-wife! Bwah hah hah hah."

Today's Full Strip

...And we're back. So much for hoping that sunset walk was actually the falling curtain on this endless saga.

I'm afraid that the 12/17 new-storyline prediction is looking pretty optimistic right about now...

@Muscato--I know, right?

It would be different if something actually happened--like if Jim explained the appearance of his arm or we saw something besides Mary typing and thinking--but now we will likely get some more walking in various venues, pie-eating and chatting, and then by April, a hospital fair or picnic! Oh. Boy.

One thing I know we won't see is a June graduation for Dawn.

@Muscato - "...And we're back." I thought the exact same thing when I saw today's strip. Jim's thought-bubble could be a foreshadowing of a future stalking plot (Mary will have plenty of advice for Dawn on that), but let's all hope for a Christmas miracle and get a new storyline tomorrow.

Mary's Platitudes This Week, As They Apply To Us:

Everyone sooner or later knows the pain of a never-ending storyline. Grieving is the price we pay for reading Mary Worth. It's been said, 'The Mary Worth and Me blog doubles our joy and divides our grief.' Too often we're tempted to shut down our computers... to close our newspapers... not realizing there are kindred spirits all around us! When we click on our Mary Worth and Me browser bookmarks, we make room for amusement to enter our lives. But first we have to recognize the tedious storyline we're enduring... and post comments about it responsibly. Commonality is one of the strongest weapons we have against Karen Moy! In our lives, our snarkiness... we use what we can to fight boredom... and hopefully it's enough.

LOL! You guys are just too much!

Maybe if Uncle Joe does a couple of days of stick figures (which would still be too good for the writing) Moy will get the hint to move on.

I don't mean to read too much into this but this storyline is just seriously creepy. If you were talking to your friend and she was like, "Yeah, my daughter went over our monthly usage on our phones." You might say, "What happened?" Your friend would sigh and say, "Well she burned up about 500 texts in two days texting this guy she met for one date." What would your reaction be? Then say you were talking to another friend who that his son recently grew his arm back with no explanation. After you realized you were rich because hey, magic arm, you would tell your friend that was great news. Then your friend says, "Yes, but he likes this young lady who seemed to reject him because he was armless. They went on one date but he is certain she is 'the one' for him and he is not giving up on her even though she sent him 500 texts in two days saying she just wants to be friends." What would your reaction be?
Me, I'd run for the hills (but still try to make money off of the magic arm thing)

Thorp and TeacherPatti--Stellar comments today, really. I hang out with such brainy people.

I'm sorry heydave. I agree with Muscato, I'm not so sure about the 17th anymore.

But I'm not sure if that's a bad thing exactly, because I'm hoping it will continue until Christmas so Dawn can make Jim an embroidered arm cozy as a gift.

I'm oddly curious how Moy will work a plot around the seriously unhealthy fascination Jim has with a woman WHO LOOKS LIKE HIS DEAD SISTER. But on the other hand, I could easily be distracted from this curiosity by the appearance of a nice piece of chocolate cake...

http://www.directlyrics.com/jason-mraz-i-wont-give-up-lyrics.html So, Karen Moy is a Jason Mraz fan. Fascinating to see where she gets her inspiration.
My wv is "wantsubs" and yes, I definitely want to substitute another story line already.

No, no, no! I'm devastated about the potential for the 17th now.

Well, mostly queasy and feeling a bit dirty over the lingering death knell of this story, but still a bit devastated and apprehensive.
