Mary Worth 1745

A wonderful and diverse throng of Christmas shoppers flock Manhattan on a Sunday morning. I was hoping Mary and Ken had only gotten a slice, but it looks like they bought an entire pie and intend to eat every bite. I was pleased, however, to see that Mary finally decided to use a straw.

I hope everyone has been having a happy holiday season. We have been very busy. Our freshman came home from BYU this morning. She got stranded in Chicago last night and has had quite a few adventures. It's nice to have the family together again.

And please remember to enjoy your FREE secret message by holding your cursor over each image. Merry Christmas, from Buddy the Elf and Joe Giella.

Ken mentioned his "great wife" -- that would be Barbie Barbington.

I wonder if Moy can drag this pizza party out until 2014. Z-z-z-z-z-z-z...

I confess I had to look up Malcolm de Chazal. I am giddy at the prospect that more of his deep thoughts will appear in future panels. Imagine what Moy and Giella could do with gems such as:
1. Half-opened petals give the flower an adenoidal look.
2. We know the halls of the eye like welcome visitors but we live in our mouth.
3. Any man who acts singly in the press of a mob will get trampled. Shifting into reverse while making love can kill you.
4. Immediately before it falls, water turns into a living being as if a person's soul had just slipped into it: look at the way it bends and twists, writhing in desperation. (What if you threw a not quite cold corpse out of an airplane—would the dead awaken?...)

@Sandi Ego at 2:18 AM, those quotations of de Chazal sound like they came from on online translator program.

I don't know much about the financing of Broadway musicals, but how has K2 been able to live comfortably off his past roles for so long?

If K2 needs a gift hint for Mary, he might consider gloves.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Wanders! I just wanted to chime in about the original Ray's. It closed in 2011. I took my husband there and it's a no name pizza parlor now (Emphasis on the "no name" There was literally no name on the front when we went last year.) My husband was more impressed with the fight that started when were there than he was the pizza. I told him "it's just a slice on NY". (No pun intended.) Anyway, maybe Mary and 2K will have the thrill that my husband had and another fight will break out there. They've been there so long, something is bound to happen.

Today's strip: Considering that it's in the 60's in NY right now (yes, I still keep track of NY weather), Mary and Ken 2K are overdressed. It also looks like Ken "accidentally" took someone else's coat and gloves while leaving the now defunct Ray's Pizza.
