I can hear Mary begin her advice to the sad wife. "Let me tell you a story. Jack left me for a flapper in 1922."

Jeff looks like he's morphing into the Central Park Troll.

Daddy may no longer want to be married to an unstable, immature woman who dumps on her young child, Frannie.

Why is Jeff trying to drink from the side of his face?

Jeff looks absolutely pixilated. What's in that coffee cup--straight gin?

Geez, Mom, way to be the rock of stability for your child. Someone needs a trip to the Pax Resort.

Oh, great. Another moppet-themed storyline. I'm still recovering from the saga of Emily from Goleta.

I've now been following MW - thanks MW&M! - long enough to wonder whether there's some pattern to the various successive Worthiverse plots. In reverse order lately we've had:

- Unraveling marriage (it's still early days, but that's the direction);
- Romance (with travel and seeing of Old Friend, mysteriously dumped from the storyline after suitable MW basking);
- Travel (with widow, conflict, and yoga issues);
- Romance (with mother-in-law problems);
- Cake baking
- Romance (with amputee isses);

It seems like Mary's either bringing people together, having an adventure, or separating them.

Or ocean liners are sinking, but that's a whole different ball game.

Jeff fades to black and is once more just a plot device.

They don't call it the Bummer Boat for nothing.

Tomorrow: "Mommy, why is that old lady staring at us?"

Maybe Mary can set up Mommy Dullest with K2--we know she likes to pair up her redemption projects.

The ever-oblivious Frannie will probably be asking her weeping mother later in the evening, "Mommy, it looks like you're not going to finish your shrimp. Can I have the rest? Seafood's my favorite!"

Maybe Mary will meddle and get Mommy a job cooking at the Bum Boat. Then Frannie can have all the shrimp she wants. Of course, she may have to give up the Pearls Lifestyle, but as Mary can tell her, "There's no shame in hard work, and being independent makes you a wonderful role model for little Frannie."

Until, of course, Mary can toss her together with a patron or a busboy.

Mary brings Frannie and her mother together with Ken Kensington. . . Turns out Frannie has been studying voice and Ken gets her cast in a remake of "Annie" with Ken as Daddy Warbucks. . . So, Frannie IS right! She WILL take care of her mom!! And Mary triumphs in the Smug-o-lympics just in time to watch the real thing on TV!! Being stuck inside in the snow does strange things to my view of the world. . . .
