Mary Worth 1788

I'm starting to get the idea that Wilbur and Iris aren't such a good match. Wilbur's search for a son has once again led him down an awkward path. Even if the son does cut his hair just like his daughter, I don't see a lot of good coming out of this relationship.

Again with the pointing.

Iris is angry and wants no help with her ex-con, mooching, addict son.

So she tells an advice column writer to keep his advice to himself.

Meanwhile, she has no money with her, so he will pick up the check.

So much irony.

So is this a montage from a series of lunches (for which Wilbur is presumably covering all the tabs), or are the two of them switching sides in that booth between courses? Or, this being the Worthiverse, is is the sandwich shop just heedlessly reconfiguring itself around them, in that quirky way that Mary's kitchen does from time to time.

Speaking of Mary, isn't it about time she has coffee with Toby to catch her upon all this excitement?

If Iris had said, "I don't tell you how to raise your daughter, who's been an undergraduate for something like seven years!" she'd have a point. However, comparing "raising" Tommy (note to Iris: he's already raised) to Wilbur writing/not writing "Ask Wendy" is senseless.

Wanders, thanks for alerting us to Karen Moy's thoughts on dogs. Maybe Tommy will find a dog that has the same kind of long hair he has. Gentle disposition not so much...

@Muscato: Jerry's Sandwich Shop is actually a revolving restaurant. It once stood atop the towering Santaroyneedle, until the structure was swallowed up by one of the famous Santa Royale Sinkholes. All that remains is Jerry's, still revolving, causing mild consternation and motion sickness to its patrons. Or maybe that's just the mayo.

Anyway, the current Santa Royale sinkhole is situated under the southwest corner if the Charterstone Condo Complex, causing it to tilt ominously in some panels. So far, the residents seem unperturbed.

I agree with KitKat. Iris should've let him have it over his hypocrisy. That said, Iris and Wilbur both are pretty much acting like doormats to their obnoxious progeny so they make a great pair. I see wonderful things for this fine couple... NOT!
