Mary Worth 1791

Iris may want to revisit the definition of the word "son." Taking advantage of parents is sort of their natural state. Our job as parents is to prepare them to be independent of us. And Wilbur was right. Iris completely blew it. How did Tommy ever survive prison without his mommy?

Has Tommy applied for a job at the sandwich shop yet? Had somebody been there to come running over with the check, this scene might have played out very differently.

Pedestrians, watch out for an angry and distracted driver in the vicinity of Jerry's Sandwich Shop!

I remember (way, way back) Iris mentioning that Tommy had developed an interest in religion while serving his prison term. I distinctly recall a panel showing Tommy speaking with another inmate while holding what seemed to be a bible or prayer book. Was that just a scam to try to ensure early parole? And/or to fool Mommy? It doesn't take much to fool Iris!

The more I see of Iris, the more I think she should be asking her doctor about osteoporosis. Even by Worthiverse standards, her posture is abominable.

KitKat makes an excellent point. Tommy did make a show of religious piety. Perhaps he should seek counsel at the undenominational church where Dr. Adrian and Det. Whatsisname got married. (A brilliant commentator referred to it as "the First Church of Math" since it displayed a plus sign instead of a cross.)

"Some nerve! Implying that my own son would take advantage of me. At least I got a free lunch out of that sucker."

Don't cry, Wilbur. You might just get your love life back on track now that Iris is starting to have second thoughts. Or not.

Iris, having seen Tommy lounging about in a cereal/Star Wars DVD marathon stupor when she got home, rushes up to Wilbur's condo and tearfully flings herself into his arms (and promptly bounces off his stomach back into the hallway).

"Oh Wilbur! You were right! Tommy IS a selfish, conniving parasite. Thank you for helping me see the truth. Tommy and I are moving into a rehab community for co-dependency issues in Phoenix. We're leaving today.

Job is not for Tommy.

Wanders, the reason Wilbur doesn't pay at the counter is because he runs a tab at the sandwich shop. Much more convenient.
