Mary Worth 1793

Since most job searches these days are conducted on laptops, I don't think Iris has any need for concern. I'm sure all Internet usage from her network is being closely monitored by Tommy's parole officer anyway. And that parole officer is cracking up at the desperately romantic emails being sent from one HamSandwichAndMe@netzero.com.

"Of course not! I trimmed my hair in the bathroom - why didn't you notice that, Ma?!"

I surmise the inside of the door has the apartment number so Iris and Tommy remember what apartment to return to. Of course, this is not an issue for Tommy because he seldom leaves.

So if several weeks have passed and things are still the same, that probably means she and Wilblob, er, I mean Wilbur haven't reconciled.

And, now that I think about it, after all that time how could it be possible that there hasn't been an intervention Charterstone-style to help Iris develop a spine to finally kick that parasite of a son off the sofa and into gainful employment?

Looks like Tommy changed into his interview clothes.

Wanders makes an excellent point. Where's Tommy's parole officer? Not actively looking for work could be a violation.

Thank g-d he's on the couch and not on drugs.

Isn't Wilbur, since he quit his Wendy job, doing the same thing as Tommy for several weeks - sitting on the couch all day? At least Tommy doesn't constantly eat sandwiches. And why isn't Mary meddling away with Iris and Tommy?

Only in the Worthiverse can a lunch at Jerry's last for over a week, while several weeks pass in the blink of an eye.

I'm confused; I thought Tommy-boy was a dealer, now Ma makes it sound like he was a user as well. Past strips also give the impression that he has a drinking problem. Can someone explain this to me?

Iris really seems to have a handle on things.

*Several years later* . . . "Tommy? Have you been on the couch all day?"

Yeah, Ma, I've been on the couch all day! Review past interactions for possible causes.

Tuesday

"Iris, are you okay? You're wearing the same clothes you wore yesterday."

OR ... are Mary Worth and the Happy Hobo the same person?
