Mary Worth 1816

Getting mentioned in the Good Eats section of the Santa Royale Gazette is a huge boon for any restaurant. First, Wilbur Weston is the harshest of critics when it comes to food. And second, everyone reads the newspaper.

(Again with the pointing.)

Wow. That Tommy is surely impressing Jerry with his glib, ready conversation and sparkling personality.

With so much emphasis on Jerry being granted a GREAT FAVOR, the background music must be the theme from "The Godfather." Cue Al Martino!

Dear Nance, pointing is a very important element in a Mary Worth story. It tells the reader (who may or may not be semi-comatose after years of partaking of the comic strip) that it’s time to pay attention. How else are we supposed to know that something is about to happen? Another amazing technique, which KM employs extremely successfully, is ending any sentence (or fragment thereof) with an exclamation mark. I know it keeps me at the edge of my seat! People often complain that these stories don’t progress fast enough. But honestly, imagine being given 3 or even 4 panels every day. I believe I would have to read them in installments throughout the day; it’s just too much to handle all at once! So I would like to thank KM and JG for dosing out my medication in just the right amount!

Familiar territory, indeed. Good one, Wanders.

Whoa! Tommy's new look is going to rock the worlds of the female staff and customers alike! And surely, with the new image came a new attitude. Yup--he's going to make Mary proud. Turning a new leaf and redeeming himself. Today a janitor at Jerry's; tomorrow--Wall Street executive!

What? Tommy got a haircut without us? We missed out on all cool barber shop banter? What a disappointment. I thought nothing was too mundane for us faithful readers. I feel so left out.

No barber shop for Tommy. Mary held the bowl on his head and Iris cut the hair.

Wow. Based on how they're dressed, Jerry's creeper mustache, and the blatant innuendo ("I'm the lucky guy on the receiving end!"), this strip is rapidly becoming more... adult. Maybe Wilbur is like the Ron Jeremy of Chartersone, only much more grotesque?

A whole "SECTION" (that would be 4 pages, minimum) devoted to "Good Eats?" Referenced by a pudgy guy with a comb-over? My head hurts.
