While Gordon is deep into "Howdy Mouse", his mother and grandmother are going to debate his situation (unwisely) right in front of him. Amy goes on to dump her kid with Grandma yet again.
Been there, done that--The Bad Parenting Shtick--with Olive Whatsername.
If only this "plot" were about Mary dropping the ball on the chance to help a friend with her problem.
Hanna has an oriental rug dispenser on the wall. If little Gordon spills his Juicy Juice on the rug, Gram can just pull down and tear off a new one. Easy Peasy!
Yesterday, Amy came across as pretty severe, almost mannish. Today, especially in panel 1, she looks like she crossed over from Blondie.
Could it be that we're about to witness the fusion of two meddle-worthy story lines? Hanna realizes that she is out of Kelk for Kids and decides to drive to the store and get some. But of course, she has to take little Gordie with her......
Curious isn't it? We've just finished a plot (?) about parents who can't be bothered with their daughter and now we have a mother and a grandmother that have had enough of their son/grandson. Maybe Mary will develop a special bond with Gordo, just like she had with Olive. Oh, wouldn't that just be SO special! She could open a new business: "Rent-A-Granny. Meddling into your affairs while watching the children you don't want around."
I also noticed that Gordon's weight went down 20 pounds since he came in the door.
My question is where's Mr. Gordon and why he can't take care of his spawn? And where is Amy going that she's out all hours of the night? Surely the Bum Boat isn't a 24 hour eating establishment.
LouiseF is right on. I was in a bad mood before reading today's comments (possibly caused by reading the strip before reading the comments) but y'all have made me LOL more than once, and I thank you.

Signs that Amy is what used to known as (in a more politically incorrect era) a "tough broad":
She calls her mother "Ma."
Her pink shoulder bag clashes with her brown jacket. (What, no purple?)
She's wearing a fussy necklace instead of a demure pendant.
Amy many not be Nola Wolvenson, but I hope she can hold her own with Meddling Mary Worth.

Amy is standing two feet to Hanna's left and is speaking to someone standing well behind her - the flower fairies, perchance?
I didn't notice the paper towel holder in panel one because I was looking at the levitating chair.

"My what a big remote you have, Grandma!"

Scientific Law #29 of the Worthiverse: The humor level of the comments is directly proportional to the dullness of the storyline.
Little Gord-On should take his jacket off if he's going to set for a spell.
This storyline is absurdly boring. Whoever thought one could long for the unending days of Wilbur and Dawn on an Italian pleasure cruise?

Amy has "man hands." Or is that a small turkey emerging from her left sleeve?

Is Amy a working girl?
