Mary Worth 2041

"I'll give you my coffee for your muffin, and then let me clear things up for you. Adam and I had a love hate relationship. We adored each other, and yet he was sworn to destroying the world, and I was sworn to saving it. This led to a lot of emotional tension as you can imagine..."

So creative, Wanders - thanks!

Mary apparently thinks that everyone who works in D.C. must be in law enforcement. And, if Terry is not forthcoming enough, Mary will break out a pot of her special truth-serum tea.

reCAPTCHA had me identifying photos of cake, none of which were John Dill extravaganzas.

Oh, Mary. It means "Mind Your Own Business", but in a tactful way.

(Wanders, I'm not sure if I admire you or if I'm worried about you for being so determined to make Adam Miller a SuperVillain.)

So, if you were ever employed by the Secret Service, you are not allowed to tell anyone that used to be your job? Must make for gaps in the old resume.

Mighty Maids? I used them for a while. I can tell you, though, that however well they cleaned, none of them looked even vaguely like Lynda Carter...

Well, yes, it is the SECRET Service. Not the Tell it to an Old Biddy who can't Keep her Mouth Shut Service.

Oh Meg, again you’ve succeeded in making coffee come out my nose. Kudos!

Is there any plot line here?

First few weeks: Adam stalks Terry. Terry and Adam rehash their past.

Next few weeks (now): Terry tells Mary about Terry & Adam's past.

Next few weeks: Mary tells Toby about Terry & Adam's past.

Next few weeks: Terry and Adam talk about their past some more. (We find out why Adam how Adam was shot). Adam continues to declare his continuous love for Terry. Terry remains conflicted.

Next few weeks: Mary talks to Terry about her and Adam's past and suggest that Terry can learn by reviewing past interactions.

Next few weeks: Terry agonizes about what to do, but finally realizes that having someone desperately dependent upon them is better than nothing - declares her reciprocal love for Adam. They marry.

Of course - they credit Mary with bringing them back together. (It is revealed that Adam was inspired by an "Ask Wendy" column to move unannounced into Charterstone.)

Next few weeks: May congratulates herself to Toby.

Labor Day Weekend: Pool Party!

Next few weeks:

I was in law enforcement for over thirty years. I knew many Secret Service agents. To suggest that they can't tell anyone that they work for the Secret Service is pure folly (especially for an agent that left the agency). Had the author of this strip taken a moment to do a wee bit of research, she would have known...OK, never mind...

For some reason, this is sticking in my craw. There is a huge difference in plainclothes and undercover police work. An officer working in plainclothes identifies him or herself as an officer of the law when making contact with a citizen. An officer working undercover obviously can't. I'm certain that one or both of the Secret Service agents reading Mary Worth had quite a chuckle at KM's depiction of the Adam/Terry "Mod Squad".

Yes, but if they say they work for the Secret Service, people always say, Oh, do you see the President every day, or were you there when JFK was shot? They never say, examine any counterfeit bills lately?
