It should be noted that this is the first time we have seen a black man in Santa Royale since the commencement of this blog in 2007. The only previous appearance of an African American was Dr. Milton Smith, a Promise Haven success story, but he was in New York City. The fact that this upstanding citizen has broken the race barrier to serve as a member of the Boardwalk Police Department makes this a day of double significance. Good-bye nameless officer. Would that we could ever see you again.

Cane work is a talent not to be underestimated.
Did it help our heroine change from her purple ensemble into the sexy little black number sported today?
I am relieved that Gunny Gunnington has finally, after days and days, been apprehended by Officer Black.
Wait a minute! Is a couple allowed to get together on their own without at least one dinner at Mary's so she might observe interactions? This may be a violation of the laws of the universe. Or, at the very least, an infringement of Charterstone guidelines.
As a baldheaded guy myself, I have to say I'm not sure it's fair the mugger is being arrested. He's a violent criminal, yes, but he is also the one who will have to get at least partial credit for bringing this storyline to an end. I know it may not fully end for a few more weeks, but at least he got the ball rolling.
I'm struggling mightily with KM's oblique reference to The Village Bicycle in today's strip.
Ach! Panel after panel, they provoke & perturb me! OK, - it must be said:Is it 5 am or is the moon rising in the west?
This is the first time the Secret Service has been specifically mentioned. Karen Moy can write out these aging lovebirds by having them return to active service guarding presidential candidate Chris Christie (a cameo appearance by Bobby Black's indoor soccer coach). Far from being a liability, Adam's cane has proven its effectiveness as a weapon.
The diversity is indeed notable, but I'm not sure whether it's truly an Uncle Joe/Moy decision or one by the color artist. Maybe the behind-the-scenes folks are pushing for something a little less distinctly 1954...
The artwork, particularly the two cops and their perp, seems much better done today than usual. I wonder if Cousin Joe has wrested the pen from Uncle Joe's grasp?
Those must be security guards. What police dept sends two officers wearing 8-point dress hats to arrest a gun-toting thug? The last time I saw that was probably on an old TV show; today it's Kevlar vests and protective headwear.
News Bulletin:
The Santa Royale Boardwalk Mall Merchants Association has announced the formation of a new security patrol. The first patrol agents have been hired. The newly hired Boardwalk Buckaroos are Terry and Adam Miller-Bryson, who will be riding identical Silver Ghost
Segways while making their appointed rounds.
I think Terry's dress must be like that dress that some people think looks blue, and others think looks gold and white (which is what it is).
These coppers look like mall security guards.
Mugs demands a lawyer and will press charges
against "the mean team." Clarence Darrow is
on his short list.
When do we get to see Mary again? She must be appalled by the flinging open of doors.
