Mary Worth 2122

Holy smokes, Toby! Slicing your store bought rotisserie chicken like a meat loaf is not going to disguise the fact that you aren't very good in the kitchen! Be sure to warn Hilton Berkes to watch out for bones.

Can't help noticing that every sentence except "You have a charming apartment" ends in an exclamation pint (!). Everyone sounds a bit desperate in this strip. Maybe they are just hungry. Toby just wants this over with so she can get back to sculpting a voo doo doll of Ian. . .

Are they supposed to use their ties for napkins? I, for one, am getting quite peeved at Uncle Joe's obvious slight.

My wife is Chinese and this is a typical way of serving chicken - cleaved with the bones in it. Personally I'm not a fan because every bite has pieces of bones in it. Maybe Toby wants Ian and/or Hilton to choke?

Toby can't wait to retell the whole conversation with Mary tomorrow at the pool. But will she admit to serving take-out chicken? Mary will be appalled!

Perhaps Toby picked up a healthy loaf of wholegrain (flat)bread to go with tonight's Food Team meal. It will pair beautifully with the chicken, charred sweet potatoes, and large curd cottage cheese she is about to pass.

Of course there is quite a turnover of condos at Charterstone. Once Mary succeeds in pairing them off, residents disappear into oblivion.

When I was preparing dinner yesterday, the bottom of the pepper mill fell out, and most of the peppercorns spilled onto the skillet, the stove, the counter, and the floor. I was SO GLAD that Hilton Berkes had not come for dinner!

I get the feeling that Hilton is using "charming" as a metaphor for "I would never live in a hovel like this!"

So what is preventing Hilton from continuing to live in a house?

Ian specifies that "The other apartments in the complex often have turnover," making it very clear that THIS apartment isn't going to be available soon. It's the OTHER apartments that may become available. But Hilton still whines about how small Ian's apartment is. All of these people deserve each other.

I just LOVE seeing Toby Cameron in every strip. It's just AWESOME!

Hmmm... as a happy resident of a not un-Charterstone-ish condo community (mid-rise, admittedly, rather than garden apartments, but still), I have to wonder exactly how the place is doing - "turnover" isn't exactly a selling point on par with swimming pool, on-site maintence (thank you, Mr. Allora!), or even quirkier attractions like flower-fairy studded "grounds" and nosy - no, wait, I mean "helpful" - neighbors...

Can't wait to hear what folks will be saying about Wednesday's floating (and totally out of the blue) canine.

Frequent turnover in apartments=BEDBUGS. Just saying...
