Mary Worth 2177

I know, Mary. Right? Things are really moving along. But don't worry everyone, this story will slow down and we will all be able to relax.

For those of you who remember I'm in a play, we opened last night and it was pretty nerve racking for me. But I had a blast, and if you're in the Montgomery County, Maryland area, you can get ticket information here. I will be played by Ken Kensington.

Today's full strip

Usually when somebody starts a sentence with "Then again," it signals that what follows will be in direct contradiction of what was stated in the previous sentence. Mary, however, is no slave to rhetorical tradition.

As for the cross-over, I'm thinking maybe Dick Tracy, as he was involved in one earlier this year with Funky Winkerbean. If it has to be a city-based strip, Spiderman is another possibility. But personally I'm hoping that Mary gets saddled with babysitting Marvin and his stinky diapers.

It doesn't say it has to be a current strip; I'm guessing the Teehees have hired Cathy to be little Olive's nanny, in desperate response to which the gifted tot is dragging Mary all the way to New York to get things sorted out.

I guess it's a little late to say, "Break a leg" Wanders, but maybe not. I'm not too familiar with theatre protocol. Maybe people say it every night? In any case, have fun and..... is it too much to hope for? That next year's Worthy Awards might just include a number from "Footloose?"

I think it was a really inspired idea that Mary borrowed Mr. Alora's dolly to transport her concrete suitcase!

I'm hoping that the crossover is with Rex Morgan. Olive is in a good-and-evil conflict with another highly evolved child-thing, demonic little Sarah Morgan. Let's just hope this idea is better executed than the Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover...can you say"jump the shark", Olive?

@fauxprof: I LOVE your idea for the crossover, but I myself am secretly hoping that Margo Magee will wander out of Manhattan General Hospital and find herself at the airport. As she tries to shove a well-dressed, smoothly mannered sixty-something woman to the side, muttering, "Out of my way!" Mary Worth will brush off her sleeve and say to Margo, "I'm your new boss!" This will all be a prelude to the Moy/Giella team taking over the helm of "Apartment 3-G."

Mary strolls through Times Square and is swept back for a V-J Day style kiss by a uniformed sailor--it's Popeye!

Aw--how sweet! In panel 2, Olive has a little supply of mothballs waiting for Mary.

@meg at 12:32 pm, I wondered about those objects too. I think they're marbles that Olive will put in Mary's bed. She's such a little prankster!

That guy in the striped shirt behind Mary looks suspicious to me. Maybe her plane will get hijacked.

SUNDAY
I wonder where Mary changed her blouse from yesterday's black to today's pink print. Airport restroom stall? Teeny bathroom on the plane? Muscled her way into the cockpit?

Today is All Saints Day, and Mary's been practicing her saintly look for the last panel today. Sorry Mary, you picked "smug" instead.

Sunday

Fatuous quote--check. Floating head--check. Big square windows on a jet plane--check. All's right with the Worthiverse, we can relax and enjoy our day.
