Well, at long last our Mary Worth/Phantom cross-over comes to a close. What an exciting week it has been. I thoroughly enjoyed the creative shared experience of Mary and Heloise. How fun it was for me to meet a character from a comic strip that I don't care about.

I don't know who I feel sorrier for, us or Mary's cab driver.
I, for one, have been thoroughly amused by the "crossover" strip...Today, in fact, the Phantom strip has yet another depiction of Mary and Heloise in the cab(Mary looks like Hillary Clinton after a long night on an airplane.) Really enjoying how "The Phantom" writers work a scene of hand to hand combat in a jungle cage into a strip with a frame of Mary and Heloise in the cab in New York... Karen Moy could learn a thing or two from these guys...
As Mary bids Heloise to "stay safe", it looks like Heloise is about to step into traffic as she climbs out of the car.
"Thank you kindly. I really SCREEEECH! SPLAT!"
Whew! That crossover segment was quite the whirlwind of action. So glad we can slow down and get back to more refined drama which awaits us with the "Olive Taylor Saga".
That cab is really not designed for the comfort of back seat passengers.
@ Vince: Haven't you noticed that this cab is like a TARDIS? Its interior dimensions are much larger and with different proportions than its exterior dimensions. Could this turban-wearing cabbie be a Time Lord? How cool would THAT be? (Answer: Way too cool for Mary Worth)
RockDoc, Mary may be Doctor Who! She's always changing her appearance -- sometimes she's young, sometimes old, sometimes she looks completely different from the day before. Is it Giella's poor artistic ability, or does Mary keep regenerating?
Heloise didn't even offer to tip the driver. What a loser!
I never read Phantom except when it's in Comics Curmudgeon but this last week I read it every day. My question is: was this crossover to boost readership of Phantom? Seems unlikely....but then, was it to boost Mary Worth? That seems even more unlikely.

Why is Mary offering to pay the cab fare, she has to pay it anyway, it is HER ride, they are going to HER destination! Heloise just mooched a lift in the same direction.
@LouiseF I completely agree! I like the weekday Phantom stories, don't particularly follow the other two storylines they print. I think it's kind of fun when two different strips collide, like in this case - an old busybody and a superhero. What could be more natural?
I know this is a Mary Worth blog, but you seem to be rather cruel and close-minded to The Phantom. I mean, sure you are free to say you don't like it, but it's the not-so-subtle jabs I'm talking about.

Today's "Phantom" is particularly funny, with the Phantom musing on what time it is in New York as he is bashing in some bad guy's head...And the depictions of Mary Worth by the Phantom's illustrators go on and on...She is depicted as if she is an ominous, almost supernatural presence, a la the Phantom... Meddling in the affairs of criminals/meddling in the lives of the everyday.. Is there REALLY a difference between Mary Worth and the Phantom? I think not.
When I read today's MW, I wondered if Mary is giving her business card ("Mary Worth, Meddler Extraordinaire") to Heloise since there was no evidence of Mary writing. Today's Phantom depicts Mary scribbling, so I guess that answers that. Isn't this exciting?! Yawn...

I want to see Mary take on some thug in a cage fight in the jungle, while wearing the Phantom's outfit.
Meanwhile, may I suggest a contest? What would be a good Worthiverse slogan, along the lines of "You don't find the Phantom, the Phantom finds you"?
Aw, come on, Dimensionalotter. We aren't any nicer to Mary Worth and we're utterly devoted to her. We're just kind of a tough crowd. I blame that on Moy's bullying us over the years, tantalizing us with what could be exciting plots, then making each one duller than the last.
