I wonder if Harlan is only pretending to be a widower. All we have to go on are his word and one picture. Perhaps Dawn will discover -- later, after yoga practice? -- another room with all the other pictures.
In the initial excitement over another backpack sighting, I almost overlooked the odd position of backpack-wearer's foot. Should it drop down like that. On a seemingly level surface? Which led me to further speculation: two people, three legs. Conjoined twins? (Love you, Uncle Joe!)
I wonder if Dawn's locket is engraved "Reminds me of Dave."
Cathy dropped her shoulder bag in her haste to give a pat on the popo to the gray conjoined twins (unless that hand belongs to someone or something else).
Soo... that Sunday comic. It totally reminded me of when Bill Waterson would draw Calvin and Susie in the same style as the soap comics. In fact... Dawn looked a lot like Susie in that one comic.
Thank you for sharing that Calvin and Hobbes strip @Darth Curt. I remember that one! Why did Calvin and Hobbes have to leave while certain inane boring ones stay on and on and on?
Isn't it a bit bizarre that there will be such a dramatic difference in artistic style between weekdays and Sundays? This is probably the beginning of the end for Uncle Joe and Chin Napkin. Uncle Joe was the only reason I can think of to tolerate the incredibly mind numbing lack of talent that is KM. It seems to me that Joe was always poking the bad story telling with his wit and humor. I'll look forward to his work on weekdays and miss him on Sundays.
I agree. The beauty of Mary Worth is that the in-your-face, awkward stiltedness of the dialogue and plot was mirrored in the kooky "no food has ever been that color, no suit has ever had that pattern" style of artwork.
If it just become another strip of good looking people doing boring things, it might as well be Judge Parker. One of those is more than enough already.
Hmmm ... I think that we still have a LOT to make fun of, even if we stick only to the "plot," which is my "favorite" part, anyway! So ... didn't this whole "storyline" start because Dawn was lonely at college and didn't seem to have any real friends? And then she ignores another interesting student who is involved in the hiking club. And then she starts spending LOTS of her free time with her drippy art history professor ... generating accusations of favoritism and who knows what else? And now it turns out that, all along, there has been not just one nice friend, but a whole group of nice friends that meet up for dinner. Who knew?
Dawn's obsession with the drippy Harlan Jones has taken on a robotic aspect, as she stares ahead, not making eye contact with her friend and fellow student, as if she were a Stepford wife already ... or at least a Stepford girlfriend!
Finally, someone mentioned that Dawn usually has blue eyes, and--magically enough--today's version of Dawn has brown eyes to match Sunday's version.
This plot is SOOOO delicious, like a welcome rain after the long, desert-like, dust-clouds-rising lack that was the Olive story followed by Dinner over Platitudes with Jeff. I am feeling quenched with rumor-mongering, pink hair, and the blooming controversy concerning the Sunday sub.. Bring on the Telephone Game, in which Dawn's former friends spread story after story about her...
I think it is just about time for Mary to appear on the scene, before Dawn gets beaten up by her classmates, or "yoga practice" starts looking like a game of Twister.
Are those two people in the background participating in a three-legged race, or are they conjoined twins as others have suggested, even though one appears to be male and the other female? Or is that the Santa Royale version of parkour?

Good one, wanders!
Yoga Practice With Harlan might have been a replacement for Lilias, Yoga and You.
At what point can you stop practicing yoga and just do it?

So amazing!

This is going to be FUN!
Dawn's helmet hair is back!

*whew* glad that Sunday's strip was only a brief rift in the space/time continuum of the Worthiverse.
