Mary Worth 2336

I love June Brigman's Sunday art. I think she's turning Santa Royale into a whole new world. However, some things are sacred and shouldn't be altered. Wilbur Weston has four strands of hair combed over his scalp, always. No exceptions. I hope this oversight will be corrected soon.

Those four strands are the only thing keeping Wilbur from looking like me. So let's get it right, please.

Finally, Sunday Wilbur! Spaghetti rather than a sandwich is a bold artistic choice. Now I'd like to see Sunday Toby and Sunday Ian. As to Sunday Mary, she'd better watch that long, trailing scarf. Remember Isadora Duncan.

Did anyone else hear the Miss Gooch music from "The Wizard of Oz" when catching sight of Mary on a bike?

Not only is she tempting fate with that scarf, the squirrel who tried to bash Mary with a bough might still be lurking, and no Tummy Brain Olive to intercede.

June must have put Wilbur on a diet in addition to changing his combover attempt.

In addition to the four-strand combover, don't forget Wilbur's hairy hands are conspicuously absent!

Oh, come on now, Wanders... admit it... finally, the real reason you started this blog... Wilbur ... Wes.... Wanders.... the whole "W" thing.... he's your ... DAD!

Wanders Dad is so much more handsome, perceptive, and has no relationship issues. His Dad is in another comic: Zits.

Kitkat--I immediately thought of dear Almira Gulch, but then realized her basket was in the wrong place.

Wanders, the resemblance is remarkable. Has Wilbur ever asked you to go fishing and kite-flying with him? You could easily convince him you're his long-lost son.

I'm waiting, not so patiently, for a Sunday back-view of Mary's hair. I know it can't be growing out of her scalp on both ends, but it has always looked that way, and I want the mystery solved.

LOL KitKat at the Wizard of Oz reference.

Since they're having pasta and laughing in the Sunday panel that Wanders has posted, I can only assume that Dawn and Wilbur are reminiscing about their fun Italian cruise on the Costa Concordia, or whatever it was called in the strip.

TUESDAY

Rather than comment on the storyline, which is on life support, I'm puzzled by an object on the table in panel one (the shiny, shiny table). Ok, is that thing a squat pepper mill? A fancy coffee table cigarette lighter from the forties or fifties? Or maybe a little servo robot that cleans up crumbs and restores the shine? Shiny, shiny, shiny....

Maybe I missed this discussion, but does anybody know who "Roy" is in the credits for the Sunday strip? I thought the dialogue sounded a bit less like Moyspeak on Sundays recently, and I'm wondering if somebody named "Roy" is either doing or assisting with the writing on these Brigam-drawn strips.

Tuesday
Something revolutionary may be happening! In Monday's strip, Blonde Ponytail has her right hand on Dawn's back. Today she's extended her left arm behind Dawn's shoulders, and she's asking Dawn if she's sure Dawn has no interest in becoming more than friends with Harlan. Is a same-sex relationship in the Worthiverse in the offing? (I would be more than surprised if that's the case.)

@fauxprof at 9:14 a.m., maybe that object is a tiny robot monitoring food intake.

@Yahoonski: Roy Richardson is the inker/colorist on Sundays. He is June Brigman's (the Sunday artist) husband. See: http://maryworthcomics.com/2016/05/08/june-brigman-will-draw-sunday-art/

I think the changes have helped the weekday art to "kick it up a notch"; it's really great! But: Dialogue on Tuesday is REALLY INAPPROPRIATE!!! Where are the mean students complaining about Dawn trying to influence her grades?

WEDNESDAY
Hmm, could it be that Dawn is interested in being more than friends with Harlan after all? Is she hoping to be introduced to Harlan's mother? Dawn's hopes may be futile because it sounds like Harlan and Alfie have an exclusive relationship.
