Mary Worth 2365

Awww, that's cute. He named his mop twin Vicodin.

Today's full strip

Is that Jerry? If so, I liked the old Jerry with mustache and Hawaiian shirt better. Maybe this guy is middle management - assistant associate to Jerry/bouncer.

Hmm, what kind of accident did the customer have? On second thought, it might be better if we don't know.

It's also sweet that Tommy and his mop resemble each other so strongly.

The new Jerry looks like one of the bullies who torment Bart Simpson. "Ha, Ha!"

Thanks, Wanders, for pointing out the mop twin. Perhaps Aunt June will bring an intentional sense of humor to the strip. (Of course, she'll never surpass Uncle Joe's three-arm beauties.)

In fairness to Tommy, I have to admit that a Vicodin or two really does help with the cleanup chores, especially when there's an "accident" involved. But again, I can't believe he doesn't seem to be at all concerned at what must be his rapidly dwindling supply. You have to figure the original Rx was only for 18 pills with no refills. This is at least Day 3 of his ordeal, and we've witnessed him tossing back THREE pills at a time. I predict the B and E's at Charterstone will commence on Monday.

@Yahoonski at 10:09 a.m., remember that the prescription is from Ready-Med, Santa Royale's finest pill mill, so refills might be easily obtainable.

Today the role of Jerry will be played by Three Stooges star "Curly Joe" DeRita.

Is the food THAT BAD in Jerry's that someone had explosive diarrhea?? I would blame it on Wilbur, but he's in Japan. (So he claims.)

I have missed so much! I've worked 12 days straight and today is my first day off to catch up on this and that. So many great panels, I can't wait to read everyone's comments. And, say it ain't so, Joe... truly the end of an era.

SUNDAY
Oooh! Tommy's gonna get fired! ... And Jerry's Sandwich Shop is going to open up on Monday morning with ... explosive diarrhea? ... projectile vomit? ... giant gobs of phlegm? ... other bodily fluids? ... all over the walls! I hope it's the ladies' room that is really messed up and that Mary and Toby go there for brunch tomorrow and that Mary walks into the rest room and is confronted with the public's visceral reaction to her "advice" ... after all, she was there when Tommy got his Vicodin prescription and said nothing, so she's responsible for this (in some small way).

I especially love "Jerry's" (? so different from previous incarnations) comments about the reputation of the sandwich shop and how the job matters and must be done! Great foreshadowing of Tommy's impending doom!

And, Tommy, ... DAWM awaits!!!

DWET said...

Oops...DAWN awaits! Aargh! @#$%!

Dwet: I like DAWM better!

@DWET, Dawm is lurking out there too. She's the maniacally evil triplet neither of you knew about. She looks a little like Dawn only with a worse haircut and Joker makeup.

Jerry's reputation: "Floors so clean, you can eat off 'em. In fact, that's where we serve the food!"

I truly hope Jerry finds Tommy on Monday morning, still passed out in a booth... "Tommy, can you hear me?"

KitKat said...

MONDAY
A snapshot of Tina - how quaint! And that lamp - Iris bought it for him when he was 3.

Rather than wrestling with feelings of loss, Tommy should wrestle with doing his laundry, showering, and shaving.

fauxprof said...

Yes, Tommy has everything he needs. Dirty socks, bad decor, and Vicodin. However, does he still have his dead end job?

I was hoping for some drama like Tommy staying asleep after nodding off to a vicodin-infused dream, waking up when Jerry comes in, leaving the "accident" in the bathroom not dealt with, and a major case of staph infection in the restaurant, but no. . .

Is it even possible to jump ahead a few days later in the Worthiverse? Theories of space and time are being turned upside down. I expected Moy to drag out Tommy falling asleep at work for at least a week and am definitely disappointed that we have no closure on the accident in the bathroom or if Jerry fired him.

I am so glad to hear Tommy is actually not missing Tina Baby. Unfortunately he will soon be missing his meds, and Toby will be missing the glass figurines he must pawn to support his pill habit.

@fauxprof: Ha, ha! Dawm the evil triplet! I LOVE IT! Probably, she's out there hatching outrageous plots that are far more interesting than the strips they serve us up with!

Seriously, what happened with the accident in the bathroom? Did Tommy just take a short nap and then clean the whole restaurant? Or did he sleep until the first customers arrived to find the bathroom filthy? What did "Jerry" do? I can forgive action-less "plots" in this strip, but when the strip sets up conflict and exciting drama only to skip ahead a few days for no good reason, it irks me! I'm peeved-off! Aargh! @#$%! ... Time for a margarita by the pool!

@DWET at 11:36 PM yesterday, I feel your pain. We all do. How dare Karen Moy prevent June from illustrating that "customer accident"!

On to TUESDAY...

Next time, Tommy, instead of Mommy and Mary filling your prescription at CVS, go to Santa Royale Drugs R Us, "home of the bottomless pill bottle." But, jeez, there's no limit to Tommy's stupidity - he didn't realize he was running out of pills?

fauxprof said...

Tommy's mental acuity is less than his mop twin's. Simple arithmetic is beyond his capability. Now he will have to cudgel his tiny brain to figure out how to get more pills. This will not be pretty to watch.

Don't panic Tommy, you have a number of options here.
I'm sure Iris has some rubber cement lying around for The diorama class she is taking. You can check the medicine cabinet too. Just steer clear of the progesterone.
If all else fails, I can see Jenkem being the answer. Mary will be able to tell what this is.
