It appears that Mary has tipped her cup of Sanka and it is now spilling over the side, but that would mean that the laws of gravity are now being uniformly applied in the Worthiverse, and I doubt that would ever happen.
Tommy's been through a lot? He's been through a lot of opiates, certainly. Up until the mild back strain, he was slouching through an undemanding job, relationship, and life in general without much complaint. At least he doesn't have to eat Mary's pie. That one tiny bite is still on Iris' fork, which ought to tell us something.
Let me get this straight...Your kid has back pain, gets a vicodin prescription, quits his job soon after and breaks up with his girlfriend, whom he now doesn't even want to talk with on the phone. If you are THAT clueless, your spending more time with him isn't going to help him much. What will Mary suggest? Kite-flying together? That seemed to work well for Wilbur and Dawn... This strip really is becoming a disservice to parents of opiate addicts.
Today we see Mary's eyes after an extended absence. Good heavens! Me thinks Mary's not bringing up Tommy's Vicodin addiction because she's stoned herself! Lookit those eyes. Pretty scary.
On Sunday, Monday, and today Iris's fork is in her left hand, but on Tuesday it was in her right hand. Iris really doesn't want to eat that piece of pie!
Mary may be an ADULT, but she's been through a LOT recently. For one thing, she lost the pearl earrings she'd been wearing for the past 97 years.
I have to say, I kind of like the Brigman Mary. She looks so relaxed and natural. I do miss the Giella Mary, though! She was so plastically perfect in every way and much more appropriate to her meddlesome personality.
I looked back to 2004 to the Beedies then, and they both had light brown hair. Now they are both blond. Go figure!
Also, I would like to have a piece of that blueberry pie, since no one else seems to be eating it. I'm just going to head over and knock on Mary's door ...

This "storyline" is moving so slowly that I feel as if *I'm* the one on Vicodin.
Also, this new Mary looks so much more haggard and dresses more slovenly (and casually) than the previous one. Takes some getting used to.

Louise F has certainly nailed what's wrong with this.
