Mary Worth 2429

Whether intended or not, perhaps the most effective break-up line ever spoken.

What a strange, bullet-headed, jug-eared silhouette. Is that supposed to be Wilbur? Looks more like a B-movie horror villain from the 1940s.

I like Iris’ flipper-hand. She’s morphed into the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Wilbur has morphed into Uncle Fester!

Iris, if you still had a right eye, it might be easier to see things Wilbur's way.

"Try to see it my way," suggests our rambling boy, Wilbur. Is "We Can Work It Out" on the Charterstone jukebox yet?

And of course the obvious response for Iris in this situation is "OK, I'll keep an eye out for you."

"Ha-Ha, we're in our late middle age, for sure I will spend an entire year of my dwindling time on earth waiting for you while you pursue some pursuit entirely unrelated to me or my interests. What could possibly be the downside?"

Uh ... folks, ... I don't think that that flipper-like object in panel 1 is Iris's hand ... I think it's a high-heeled shoe and part of a leg! The woman at the next table had the calamari. Be careful what you order, Wilbur and Iris!

Also, with Wilbur out of the picture, will the Tommy-Mommy love affair really take off? Or will DAWN swoop in to work her magic?

@Yahoonski: Or, "I'd keep an eye on you if I had one to spare."

It's slowly dawning on Iris that she is Wilbur's Insignificant Other.

Wilbur needs more practice at this clumsy exit line with Iris... He should sit in on Mary and Dr. Jeff's tortured interaction for some tips.

SUNDAY

In the meantime, blissfully unaware of her impending abandonment, Dawn is still working on her school project. She and Kathy are making a diorama of Pickett's Charge. Unfortunately, it's for an organic chemistry class and all they have to work with is a collection of troll dolls. As to Wilbur and Iris, well, Frankly my dear...

So Tommy just "got over" a serious addiction, and Helicoptering Iris needs to watch his every move. Then there's Wilbur, who just returned from Japan and is ready to leave his totally immature daughter to fend for hersel while he travels the world looking for excitement. He and Iris are quite a couple, aren't they?

Eh...if Dawn is college-age she can live on her own. Many 20 year-olds survive without living with their parents. Iris really should be cutting the umbilical cord with Tommy too.

So we reused the Uncle Fester and Flipper Hand silhouette panel. Stop being lazy Moy and Roy.

What kind of burnt sandwich is Wilbur eating? Why are there vegetables on his plate? How does his weight fluctuate so much?

Why did Iris only order the Kelk salad if Wilbur is paying?

Iris needs to stop misplacing that eye.

Wouldnt it be great if Iris abandoned Tommy like Wilber did with Dawn? Relapse. Crime spree. Relationship with Dawn. So many possibilities.
