The scones seem to be having a conversation, too. Unfortunately, Iris and Mary's random shouting is drowning it out.

It's finally hit me that Mary is incapable of making a reasonable assessment of a situation, which hinders her ability to give insightful advice. This is a problem for someone whose reason for being is to give advice.

I think Iris should take Tommy with her on the dinner date with Zak - she's been neglecting her son again.

SCARED....With her bold print, Moy is speaking to us in code.

I believe she may be sending messages to her cult.

Iris would be better off consulting a fortune cookie.

Wilbur will return unexpectedly from his sojourn and find Iris with Zak in Cafe. Then the fun will start!

This answers the question of how much time has elapsed since it's clear that Iris and Zak have not had dinner yet. This means they spent a few hours together ON ONE DAY, people! Iris is basing all her relationship fantasies on a conversation in a hall and a lunch at Cafe. Holy moly Moy!

When Mary advises Iris to go slow as she explores her relationship with Zak, she's reflecting on her relationship with Jeff. They've been going slow for 32 years.

I am astonished at how slowly overall this strip moves, yet Iris's level of commitment and interest is streaking toward Deep Seriousness after one salad at Cafe.

At this rate, Iris and Zak will be shacking up by Saturday and looking for the line on a pregnancy test by Monday.

Meanwhile...the purple anaconda on Mary's neck slowly. Tightens. Its. Grip.

"Get more serious"??? "Explore your relationship with him"??? What relationship? They just had one lunch together! Maybe we'll see days and days of lovelorn Iris daydreaming, texting unrequitedly, talking to Tommy about this great new Zak ... only to finally get in touch with Zak and have him say ... "Babe, I'm just not that into you!"

SATURDAY
Giving all this advice about dating younger men has made Mary younger herself! She looks like she's in her late 40s. Is this ageism in a strip whose main character is supposed to be an elderly woman? SHEESH!
