Mary Worth 2475

Their hands keep awkwardly brushing against each other. If I know Zak, he'll be holding her hand in no time. And all the people on the busy streets of Santa Royale will sigh, "Awww, isn't that sweet? That man is holding his mother's hand at Christmas."

Not only was their dinner conversation bold, Iris and Zak did something really bold, Wanders - a dine and dash. Iris is wearing different clothes, so this is either another day or they did something even (ahem) bolder.

Zak is the poster boy for flying by the seat of his pants, isn't he? What a free spirit/aimless slacker! And Iris botched the chance to ask him who he will be holiday (Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/You Name It) shopping for...tsk tsk, Iris.

In panel two, Iris says, "Well...better LATE than NEVER!" Yes, Iris, it's better to date a hot dude late in life than to NEVER do it. What a waste to stay with that dim bulb Wilbur with his comb-over hairdo and his pot belly! Sheesh! What a loser! You can do better than that! ... Oh, WAIT!!!! That's my Dad I'm talking about! ... Never mind!

Glad to see that at least the commercial center of Santa Royale is festive. Zak will ask Iris' advice on a present for his Mom, and she can have him help pivk something out for Tommy. Sweet.

Squid ink pasta seems to have put quite the holiday smile on Iris's face.

I admit that given some trying personal circumstances, I'm only dipping into all things Santa Royale every now and then these days - but even so, I can't get used to this new, devil-may-care Mrs. Beedie. I miss the stouter, staider Iris, who was such a perfect match for Lonely Bachelor Wilbur.

That said, Zak looks pretty choice. Maybe he'll want to trade up for a truly mature model - Mary hasn't had an adventure since the heady days of Ken Kensington!
