Mary Worth 2499

"And, Dawn, I'm going to mix the drinks myself because I've been studying mixology. I've invented several new drinks this week alone. Also, do you like my shirt? I designed and sewed it myself because I've been taking a class in fashion design. Next semester, I plan to teach it."

A candidate for Panel of the Year for the 2018 Worthy Awards already!

It's good to see that the late Robert Goulet is staying busy, and he looks great! Moving on to the Great Beyond has given him a new lease on life and taken decades off of him.

Besides the mixology, Harlan designs jewelry too. That's the only thing that can explain those peculiar necklaces he and Dawn are sporting. At least I think that's a chain on Harlan, and not a bizarre profusion of chest hair - bleah.

Welp, it looks like the moment Dawn Weston's Evil Twin has been waiting for has finally arrived. Zak and Dawn are about to bump into each other. Trumpets will sound and thunder will boom (apologies to Jackie DeShannon)while the disco lights reflect off his stubble and her neck armor. Meanwhile Iris will realize that Harry Connick Jr. here is a more age-appropriate dance partner for her.

Fighting past the considerable gorge in my throat to comment here.

Blech.

So, Dawn is still Just Friends But Going Out Dancing with her professor. Now, they'll bump into the May-December couple of Iris and Zak. (Cue The Music) By the time a Pool Party happens in July, Iris and Harlan will have moved away to start their own Independent College, Dawn and Zak will have moved away and married, and Tommy will have moved away to be the minister at a neighboring church.

And Mary will have finally told the letter-writer to 'seek out a support group or talk to a community resource person, perhaps in your town's library.'

I like the buckles on Dawn's suspenders. I don't know what else to say.

Panel one this morning made me love June almost as much as I loved Uncle Joe. It's so wondrously bizarre, and I join KitKat in nominating it for panel of the year. One question, though. Has Dawn finally clicked over from being a proudly declared TEEN, or is the drink Harlan is getting for her a caffeine-free diet Coke with a twist of lime and a little umbrella?

June, if you're going to recycle your panels, you need to give Roy a heads up. Wasn't Iris wearing a blue dress?

Oh boy, Dawn is not going to like seeing daddy's girlfriend stepping out with a college student! How will she exact her revenge? Will she seek Mary's advice? Or will she straight to Toby? Will she tell Wilbur about it? Will Harlan parkour up and over Zak?

I agree, POTY material. @Nance, love your line about Mary's advice!
Dawn's necklace was a standard tween accessory about 15 yrs ago called a "tattoo necklace", made of stretchy plastic. I admire Dawn for reaching into her little musical ballerina jewelry box and bringing this trend back to the disco. Harlan is kickin it back to the 70s/80s by making the Wild and Crazy Guy outfit uniquely his own. Bartender, can I get a Long Island Iced Tea and Sex on the Beach?

On your post on Harlan taking fashion design, he probably will take it from Miss Purple, who is an expert on what 40 somethings wear, especially with the senior discount.

OMG! LOL! ACK! I know I was complaining yesterday, but TODAY ... SO MUCH TO LOVE!!!! Yes, @Yahoonski, I am hoping for Dawn and Zak to fall in love at first sight (although Tommy and Dawn would be more fun and kinda gross), but now I'm anticipating an EXPLOSION ... with bated breath! ... Dawn will lose it once she sees future step-Mommy dancing away with that hunk who only got a C- when he sat next to her in Harlan Jones's art history class last semester. ... Shoulda studied with Dawn and Iris! ... I see a long e-mail to Antarctica coming.

I am LOVING the art today! I dig Harlan's 1970s disco look and Dawn's "cool" (ahem!) suspenders! And Iris and Zak look great! Plus, so much dramatic tension! So much more exciting than Mary's lackluster Ask Wendy "advice." Sheesh!

Mary, you need to head over to the disco ... STAT!

I was spoiled for all of this because I read Comics Curmudgeon first: but I was filled with glee! Speaking of Glee, *what song* were these 4 hotties just doing the shimmy-shake to?

For the record: I don't think these couples are gonna switch horses in mid-stream, as it were...nor do I expect Dawn to be ticked on Wilbur's behalf. Finally! The long game of these interminable story lines begins to pay off!

Looks like Harlan got the "Mr. T Starter Kit" he wanted for Christmas. Thankfully he remembered to shave his chest hair before putting it on! Will he get rid of the Clark Gable mustache when he gets next month's delivery of a nose ring from the "Mr. T One New Piece of Jewelry a Month Club"?

I think the new couple will be Zak and Harlan. It's more than time for MW to recognize 21st century reality.
