Mary Worth 2543

Jeff has successfully fulfilled his responsibilities as a Man of Honor. Recognizing that Ian will be at a teaching summit, he acknowledges Mary's invitation as thoughtful and kind, but graciously declines due to health, while silently knowing it would be inappropriate for him as a single man to travel with his girlfriend and another man's wife. Why? Because he would go CRAZY!!

Wanders, you are zinging with the secret messages! "Character of No Consequence" indeed! Jeff can now disappear into the woodwork in Adrian and Scott's new house. Adrian and Scott became Characters of No Consequence over six years ago. BTW, to newer residents of the Worthiverse who are unacquainted with Adrian and Scott, they are NOT this strip's first and/or only gay couple. Adrian is female and the daughter of Jeff. Jeff and the late* Mrs. Cory were terrible spellers.

*At least I think she is deceased. Jeff is a widower, isn't he?

Today's Boldface Haiku--repeated from the previous post--in keeping with the Theme Of This Storyline and correcting my Ironic Error--is titled "Even The Candles Are Redundant".

Seattle, teaching summit.
Enjoy. Join...this.
Understand. Tales sea!

(I bet Mary and Jeff started their Romantic Meal with some of this. Yum.)

I've never thought about putting marshmallows in my brown wine! I'll have to try that tonight to accompany my fried brown bits.

Dr. Corey is obviously a shape-shifter. I wish he'd shift back. His new look is hideous.

"Tales of the sea" ? C'mon, Mary, it's a Caribbean cruise, not a trip round the horn in a 19th century Yankee Clipper. Just make sure to make use of all the Purell dispensers you'll find in all the public areas. You wouldn't enjoy norovirus.

fauxprof,

If events in MW move at their typical speed, we're looking at two years before the mast.
