Mary Worth 2584

I am not certain how Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel would feel about being quoted out of context in Mary Worth, but at least he can rest easy knowing that he received no attribution. Except that I just exposed him. Dang. Sorry, Sir Elie.

All the big build-up yesterday for THIS? Back to banality.

BTW, it appears that Derek has charmed the tiger stripes right off of Esme's dress.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "And Sometimes A Cigar Is Just A Cigar--Sigmund Freud".

Saying,
"Friendship--Sharing."

Back to Voyage of the Tedious. And we're still at the morning after the night before. Perhaps we have another week of Cruise Vacation promotion coming up as we see the glorious shore excursion. Or not. While I'm sure June could draw it, more likely we will just hear about it like the towel folding and the cooking demonstration.

Betting odds for who spots the Esme/Derek/cigarettes encounter first: Katie at 3-1, Mary at 5-2, Toby at 2-1, and my guess at 3-5 is Nobody (Nobody sees them, Esme reconsiders and then disappears, and we move on to Mary's exciting Open Sea Staring story line).

Wanders, bravo for your secret messages yesterday and today. :-)

Not only did Esme lose her tiger stripes, she appears to have lost her earrings. However, if identical cigarette-smoke clouds are an indication, she and Derek are in sync.

Whoever discovers the Esme-Derek dalliance, I just know Evil Esme will get her comeuppance. Mr. KitKat suggests that a contrite Esme will remain in Haiti to serve the poor and become Mother Esme of Port-au-Prince.

So, I interpreted Mary's non-attributed quote to mean that Entertainer and Derek's friendship is only based on their love of cancer sticks.

Well, at least Regina came up with SOME explanation for the juxtaposition of these seemingly unrelated panels.... Friendship? Sharing? What's that got to do with treachery?

Mary's Helpful Hint #39: Cruise ships are great for sharing! Share a cigarette in the designated smoking area on the Fiesta deck! Share a night at the theater, where you can see the amazing Entertainer Esme sing and dance! Share a flirtation with an attractive cruise ship employee ... Oh, wait, maybe not ... that one's against the rules. ... Overshare about your marital woes with a friend! ... Thanks, Toby, you already did that. Now, Derek, it's your turn!

...They yearned out in the piano bar
It died with an awful sound
Funky Toby was up on deck
Painting a canvas with clowns
When it was all over
We had a lot of gripes
But Swiss time was running out
And Esme lost her tiger stripes.

Smoke on the Water
Let's hope no one finds
Smoke on the Water...

first of all --has anyone noticed the pun on Esme's name, i.e., SM

then I think they are going to get at it, and his wife walks in --and Derek has a fatal heart attack. SOmething Noir, or they conspire to kill Derekk's wife for the insurance money
