Mary Worth 2745

Just like in The Gift of the Magi, Wilbur has sold his silky combover to purchase the ring for Fabiana. Unlike the The Gift of the Magi, Fabiana doesn't care.

Wilbur deeply deserves his imminent humiliation. That doesn’t mean I want to watch it. Could we just segue to Mary’s annual holiday trip to New York? Given the unstable time streams, Olive should be in college and about to have a Christmas wedding by now.

I appreciate your shout-out to O. Henry, Wanders. That brings back memories of my cousins and me watching the film "O. Henry's Full House" on TV when we were kids. Jim selling his watch and Della her hair was so sentimental. You're right, we know that Fabiana won't be selling her hair.

Wilbur is shrinking on a daily basis. By Sunday his head will barely reach Fabiana's waist. Is this June's metaphor for the power distribution in this relationship, or does she just not care?

What kind of ring will Iris demand from Zak? Or will tattoos of rings be their thing?

When Wilbur inevitably runs out of money he can hit up Dawn for a loan. Surely that rich doctor she’s dating will be glad to give her a payday advance.

That's right, pay no attention to all those red flags, Wilbur. Just be a good little boy and take out your credit card.

Our lumpa lumpa burnin' love has just forfeited all sympathy from here on out.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "Ohh! Mi Gag Reflex!"

Believe love?
Belief! Worth!
Everything! Buy!
Ohh! Mi Amor!

So many mentions of the word "Worth" and Wilbur hasn't started having Floating Head Mary tell him he's being a complete sucker. "Worth" should really be a trigger word for Wilbur.

"Worth... Mary.... Dawn...... Iris...... IRIS!!! WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!!"
Wilbur now in the fetal position at Fabiana's feet, drooling and shaking.

Wilbur! Give the guy a check, and tell him you’ll pick up the ring when the check clears. In the meantime, enjoy the weekend.

Usually I feel sorry for the clueless, but Mi Amor has it coming.

Look at Wilbur, then look yourself in the mirror Fabiana, and tell yourself honestly that the emerald ring was worth it.

Didn't think so.

Looking at Wilbur, I want to throw up and I'm not even with him. How can Fabiana not feel the same way I do?

Fabiana threw herself into Wilbur's arms so fast that her hair is flying out behind her. She is enthusiastic about Wilbur, no?

But this isn't the Gift of the Magi, but the Grift of the Magi.

Perhaps when Fabiana says "Mi Amor", she is really talking to Wilbur's credit card...I haven't seen her make eye contact with him once.

Silky combover hair strands = honkin’ big emerald ring. Hmm.
