Mary Worth 2754

"Fabiana..." [Move other passenger's coat, shove carryon in the wrong way, remove carryon, turn sideways, try again, shift other carryons, push hard, ask little old lady in aisle seat if you can climb in, wait for her to stow her book, unfasten her seat belt, and slowly step into the aisle, waddle toward window seat, plop down, raise window shade, fasten seat belt] "is NOT the 'LOVE OF MY LIFE!' How could I have been so FOOLISH?"

"how could I have been so foolish?" Because you're Wilbur, that's why. He stomped out of the dance estudio, packed his bags and left Columbia without skipping a beat or changing his clothes. He's such a tool, he didn't even get the ring back. Expensive lesson learned.

When I saw the strip this morning, I thought of the movie Airplane! where Robert Hays' character is recounting the story of his lost love to a little old lady sitting next to him in the plane. They segue to a flashback and when they go back to the present, the little old lady has hung herself. I'd love to see this scene with Wilbur.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "All Contrails Lead To Iris: I Pity The Fool".

Fabiana...
Not "Love Of My Life"!
Foolish!

Wilbur is looking so sadly grim. Maybe he's off to Vegas to drown his sorrows with some more bad judgment.

Fabiana races to the airport with no luggage, buys a ticket, finds Wilbur, and pleads with him to stay. He does. On the way out of the airport, she sees a nice diamond necklace in the duty-free shop and asks him to buy it for her as a make-up gift. He does.

I'm still trying to decide if Wilbur striding out of the estudio reminds more of Big Boy (of tasty burger restaurant fame) or the angry Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man late in the first Ghostbusters movie.

In other random thoughts, I wonder if Cousin Pedro has a Cyber Monday deal I can capitalize upon.

Fasten your seat belts, everyone, I sense a floating head materializing in the clouds tomorrow. Will it be Fabiana and her flying hair? Iris? Mary Worth flailing away at "Ask Wendy"?

Wanders, your caption is fabulous!
I do hope we are treated to a follow up of Fabiana and Pedro showing that they were, indeed, rehearsing for the Grande Salsa Competition and really are just cousins and Fabiana is honestly in love with Wilbur because he's handsome on the inside. But, of course, he's blown it now, tsk tsk.

Maybe it's just me, but in almost every panel that we see Wilbur angrily stomping about, fists clenched and stewing about his foolishness and Fabiana, his forearms start to recall the 'guns' of NFL referee Ed Hochuli. Probably due to my watching many too football games, but in his anger, Wilbur is a regular Dr. Bruce Banner. Yes, he's the Worthiverse's "Incredible Bulk"!

Angry, angry Wilbur. Will he be played in the movie by Danny DeVito or Jason Alexander? At, any rate, like KitKat, I want to see a floating head, since that is traditional on Worthiverse aircraft. I want it to be an idealized Iris, and when she decides to stay with handsome, unshaven Zak, I want to see angry, angry Wilbur go full Also Kelrast.

That’s Aldo, not Also, but the typo has a certain resonance.

Doesn't Wilbur already have a frame of reference for "love of my life"?
What was Dawn's mother?

Great caption, Wanders! I think this is a "Worthy" dark horse for Panel of the Year.

Gosh, Wanders, your comment today really hits home. I travel very frequently and can’t tell you how many times I’ve been behind fellow passengers who, upon finding their seat, are completely surprised that they have to stow their luggage! What is this thing you call overhead storage? Don’t know what universe they live in.

Well...am I the only one with a strong suspicion as to what the love of Wilbur’s life is? Yep, that’s right...it’s a sammich.

I read the comments every single day and am always so entertained...but I had to come out of the shadows to tell Nance that today, your haiku title absolutely slayed me. Hilarious!

Maybe we have this all wrong. Maybe we're right that Wilbur heads back to Santa Royale, and find his one true love, but maybe we're wrong in thinking it's Iris.

Maybe it's Zak.
