Mary Worth 2776

"I have plans... to boil Iris in a pot of steaming hot coffee."

While this panel would definitely have been a strong contender for a Worthy nomination, have no fear -- it will be included on next year's slate! It is still not too late to vote for this year's contenders.

Oh, boy. Wilbur is developing a supervillain sneer. “Plans”? Flowers and candy? Emeralds and salsa? (Salsa in an Old El Paso jar, not dancing.) However, given that facial expression, he’s thinking more along the lines of confinement in a storage unit until she capitulates.

Have we had a hot-beverage steam head before? If there was one of Zak, a skull-and-bones poison symbol would be included.

"I have plans...after I eat three more kelk muffins."

@KitKat Mary Worth 1963 featured Sean Hastings in coffee steam. It even won a Worthy Award.

I wonder if Zak sees Iris in his bran flakes.

For some reason, "Your So Vain" keeps popping in my mind. "I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee, clouds in my coffee..."

I'm sensing that Wilbur's plans involve a straight-backed wooden chair, a rope, and a gag.

P.S. The coffee steam floating head is totally awesome!

Must be drinking chai; coffee usually generate brunettes in their steam clouds.

Maybe next trip Wilbur should aim to stay Wendy and let Mary take over Wilbur. He send much more successful and in demand as Wendy.

Steaming Iris of course reminds me of I Dream of Jeanne.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Creepy To The Last Drop".

Enjoyed. Opportunity.
Glad. Good.
Lunch tomorrow?
Another...(Plans...)

“The best part of waking up is Iris in your cup.”

Nance said...

OOOOH, @Regina! That would have been a great title! Well done.

Lol thanks Nance. Your title gave me a chuckle as always.

Thanks, Wanders, for the reminder of Cup o' Sean! Your MW knowledge is encyclopedic. Hannah Dingdon resembles a gray-haired Elizabeth Warren. I had forgotten about Hannah's daughter, Amy.. She'd be perfect for Tommy - they both call their mothers Ma.

Regina Wolfe-Parks, your comment is hilariously inspired!

Saturday:

M: '...at least Iris is happy!'
W:. 'Not for long! I'm going to win her back.'

Even Wilbur knows people aren't happy dating him. At least he didn't use 'Mi Amor' today.

Hmmm. Did he actually vocalize that "I have plans"? There's no pointer, but it's a separate bubble without the typical trail of successively smaller bubbles leading back towards his comb-over. In any case, I think the plans involve him totally humiliating himself.

I just found this place through The Comics Curmudegon and oh my stars, where have you BEEN all my life!

I notice Wilbur’s plans don’t include spending any time with the daughter he hasn’t seen for months either. That will be twice he’s refused a dinner with her.

Sunday
Welcome to the Worthiverse, CJG! We're happy to have you.

Wilbur's opening salvo to Iris should be "That guy is too young for you!" She'll be back with Ol' Blubber in no time.

Hasn't Mary told Jeff many times that she's "content" with their relationship as it is? That doesn't bode well for the contented Iris and Zak.

To everyone who posts here and makes me laugh on a daily basis: Merry Christmas and happy holidays. There are days when all is not right and I come here and I forget my problems. Thanks and hope the new year brings more snarking than ever. Thank you Wanders for the laughs you bring as well. I look forward every day for your snark and your secret message. Here's to you as well. I raise a salmon square to you.

BTW: In today's comic, Dr. Jeff looks like Mary's son and why are there two eyes on the side of that ham?

TimP said...

Pretty much echoing everything Regina just said down to the holiday wishes and the questions about just who the heck Mary is trying to impress with that mutant ham.

Delilah said...

That’s a ham? I thought it was a rolled-up salmon square!

Happy holidays, my fellow Worthies! I’ve been following this blog for over 10 years!

fauxprof said...

Merry Christmas to my Worthiverse family, and may the holiday be good to all of you.

I don’t think Mary has a lot of confidence in that ham. Why does she need a protective mitt to present it? The serving platter shouldn’t be hot. Maybe it’s radioactive? At any rate, she has an apron pocket stuffed full of corn chips as a backup.

To the tune of Auld Lang Syne, with apologies:

"Should the old acquaintance be forgot
When rich from your new website
When her son to Goleta goes
You can dine and spend the night."

"When coffee steam spouts an Iris head
Filling you with gloom and dread
Hold consolation in the simple fact
That you can use half and half instead."

"So take a heaping cup of platitude,
May Toby's creepy clowns avoid your dreams,
To all a Merry Christmastime
As spurned Wilbur plots and schemes."

Tim said...

Iris looks frightened and Wilbur looks like an alpha stalker. He's a stalker other stalkers find creepy.

Nice one, Dave in Parma! Merry Christmas to all my friends in the Worthiverse! I think we should all make some resolutions on behalf of the residents. Maybe Dawn and Iris could commit to completing at least one semester? Maybe Toby and Ian could start a family? Maybe Tommy could find a real job and move out so that Iris and Zak can have some privacy? Maybe Mary could say "yes" to Dr. Jeff?

hmm

KitKat said...

Happy Christmas to all my Worthiverse friends, and a multitude of thanks to Wanders for making all this possible!
May your days be merry and bright, everyone.

Is this the lunch Mary invited Wilbur and Dawn to? That might explain the large ham for only two people. If Wilbur was there, that ham would have been a mere appetizer.
