Mary Worth 2793

Really, there isn't much more that I can say to add to the humor of Wilbur's self-delusion. Sure, Wilbur. Your daughter needs you, so you take off for a year while she dates her art history professor and her married boss. Stellar.

Gawd, just look at him prancing around like a show pony. We need to get "Walk Like a Man" on the CS juke stat!

"She's still alive, so I must be a good father!"

Wilbur puts the "D'oh!" in dysfunctional.

Scottie McW you beat me to it! I was going to suggest the same thing lol.

Anyway, Wilbur is getting a swelled head again. Re: the sticker he wants to wear “How are my parenting skills”. I say lousy. You take off for a year and leave Dawn to her own devices (which we know never ends well) and that makes you dad of the year. What a loser.

I’m hoping that Wilbur meets up with Shovey Shovelson, the mugger from NY that has recently relocated to Santa Royale.

So is Charterstone beachfront property just a few hundred feet from the ocean? Or is that a giant lake in panel one?

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Amid The Tangerine Trees And Marmalade Skies, Wilbur's Kaleidescope Eyes See Stellar Parenting".

Missed! Needs, loves...
Parenting Skills?
Daughter's all right!

(And I believe the tag line KM is mangling for the sticker is "Ask me about", not "how are my" Parenting Skills?. Sigh.)

What kind of hallucinogens are in Mary's muffins that Wilbur actually fancies himself a good father? Along with his "How are my Parenting Skills?" sticker, he should also have one saying, "Honk if you Have a Full Head of Hair!" May as well give in to the delusion 100% WIlly.

Nance, you have struck the perfect balance between delusion and drug-induced visions in your title! I might only add "Wilbur in the Sky Without Emeralds"....

So I don't really understand what is going on. Is Wilbur supposed to be a sympathetic character that we're supposed to feel bad for? Because it ain't working. He feels more like Will Ferrell's character in the office, and we were all just relieved when he was killed off. Is that what KM is going for? Is she going to have a meteor come down and kill Wilbur and we'll all just be relieved that the train wreck is finally over?

LouiseF's comment made me lose what coffee was left to spit out after reading Nance's title. Thank you both for helping me keep my caffeine consumption under control.

@Nance and LouiseF

That's it! It all makes sense now. Mary's muffins contain LSD!

"If my daughter's any indication, I must be doing all right."

Well that kind of says it all, doesn't it Wilbur? Good luck, Mi Amour.

I'm thinking the MasterCard invoice with his $30,000 ring purchase hasn't shown up in his mailbox yet. I'm wondering what the minimum monthly payment is for a $30,000 charge?

Gee, I don't suppose there's any chance of Wilbur running into (literally - of course, we'll have to suffer through their hilarious joke about it) Charterstone's newest resident; a lovely 50-something widow who doesn't know a soul in the area. How will she ever find someone to accompany her to the gym where she's just started a fitness program?

Based on Dawn's reaction to Mary's muffins, there was definitely some sort of psychoactive substance in there. I've never seen a person get that excited over normal muffins.

I don't think Dawn and Wilbur missed or needed each other once, given that they didn't contact each other at all, even though Wilbur was able to contact Iris. I don't think Wilbur has acknowledged the fact that it was his own stupidity that lead to his break up with Iris.

He's not very sympathetic at all.

I just hope this story doesn't end with Iris getting back with him.

I see what you mean about Wilbur floating, Wanders! When I draw people running, I like to look at run cycles made for animators just to make sure I have a pose that makes sense. You'll notice that none of the frames in these four cycles look anything like Wilbur's pose here.

Whichever foot he's propelling himself with should be on the ground, and the other should be in the air. If neither foot is on the ground, his legs should be a lot more open and he should be gearing up to land on his right foot, which is currently just awkwardly flying around.

Wanders, I have a suggestion for the Charterstone Jukebox: "I'm Walkin'" by Fats Domino.
