Mary Worth 2904

For two days, I've struggled to find the words to express my absolute glee that we're going to get another Beedie story. Because if there have ever been characters I've cared about, it's Iris Beedie and her mop-haired twin son, Tommy. And I'm really hopeful that we get another progressively topical subject like the challenges of interracial relationships (like in that recent film, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner). But I'd settle for Tommy harassing a co-worker because Karen Moy handles #MeToo so well, and it would be funnier.

Tommy's got the hots for the check-out girl. He brings her home to meet Mom. Zak happens to be there. Sparks fly. Bye, Iris. Bye, Tommy.

I just hope this doesn't take five months.

@Scottie McW., probably until Labor Day at least....

I wonder if one of the places Tommy has worked was Aileen’s. Maybe he was the designated muffin samples person until that fell through.

I hope the cashier’s name is Fabiana Allora.

If Iris and Zak ever break up I will be very upset.

You sound a touch desperate, Wanders. Think you can keep it together until Dawn gets home & marries Harlan?

I too thought it was a pet store, especially when I saw Avocado Aggie buying potatoes for her dog.

I too want Tommy to make awkward advances to Fabiana Allora (love it KitKat!) and perhaps he'll wind up with a muffin on his head like Ted "what a character" Miller. Or a can of Friskies.

I too am fascinated about hearing about the "many jobs" Tommy has been working out since we saw him. That would be far more interesting than him staring at the cashier like my cat stares at his food bowl when it's full.

I have confidence that whatever the story is KM will do her best to make it something inappropriate.

Okay, my theory is that June only agreed to draw Mary Worth if KM would agree to write story lines with a limited numbers of characters. June's contract stipulates that she only has to draw Mary, six of the previously established characters, and KM cannot introduce more than four new characters per year.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"More Stellar Parenting From Iris: Hoping While Zakking".

New job?
Freda's!
A lot, sticks!

@KitKat--Your plot is obviously Better Than We Deserve. (Merely because it IS A Plot.) It's inspired, however; I love it.

I really admire the Gumption of the Santa Royale women, opening up food stores when grocery stores are such a competitive market. I wonder if Freda and Aileen are supportive of each other's endeavours or if they're vicious competitors, engaging in price wars and slamming each other on social media.

It is interesting that Santa Royale has at least two Mom and Pop (or just Mom) grocery stores. Freda seems to specialize in packaged and canned goods, and perhaps Aileen is a purveyor of fresh and artisanal items—like muffins. And they’re both competing with Food Team. I wonder how many of these fine establishments have fired Tommy already?

I'm hoping the cashier has plans to rob the store after closing, and brings Tommy in on the plan as a patsy. In the ensuing shoot-out with the Santa Royale police, someone will die, but unfortunately their last name won't be Beedie.

Ohhhhh, so this is a different store? I thought it was CAT FOOD TEAM. Never mind.

It's possible that Tommy's not stocking shelves, but stealing food instead. An inside job. And the reason he's keeping an eye on the cashier is to make sure she doesn't catch him in the act.

Just a theory.

That last panel - sing it!

"I'm a little bit soft pop
And I'm a little bit cabaret
I'm a little bit downtown Santa Royale
With a little bit of Paris on a spring day

I don't know if it's bon or mauvais
But I know j'adore beaucoup
I'm a little bit dimwit
And I'm a little bit snobby fou"
