Is this the first guy with dreadlocks in the Worthiverse? I love this little clue that they are in a different part of town now. I'm super tired of this story already. Can't we go on a cruise to Alaska?
Not to be too picky, Wanders and MissScarlet, but I believe both Tommy and Zak are 25 years old. I remember that during their first lunch date, Iris told Zak that Tommy was 25 and he told her that he was the same age as her son. Of course, in the Worthiverse that could mean both Zak and Tommy are now about 57.
So, maybe it IS actually daylight in today's strip, and Tommy and Brandy have been sitting at Diner all night repeating the same tale to one another and waiting for us faithful and hapless readers to pick up today's, ummm...story.
"My mom's the SAME WAY. She's been THERE for me through some TOUGH TIMES! ... Like when I hurt my back, she (and my absolutely fabulous neighbour Mary Worth) took me to get a prescription for sweet, sweet Vicodin, which sent me on a downward spiral of addiction and even almost into crime!"
I love June’s design for Diner. Very retro and appealing, and it looks like they’d have good burgers and hot roast beef sandwiches. It’s nice to say something positive, and stands to reason it would be about the artwork and not the writing.
Garnet: Been reading the old MWs from the official site (thanks for turning me onto them Maxwell Bacon!) I'm reading 1996 and Dawn was a college student THEN!!! She's been going for 22 years, if not more. In these strips, she looks about 40, so she's in her 60's now. At least Wilbur didn't have that awful combover. However, Professor Chinbeard was wearing his grass jacket. (Some things never change.) Also, Uncle Joe's artwork was much better then. I think KM's drivel just beat the poor man down until he stopped caring and started drawing three arms and crazy faces just to get back at her.

The inspiration for Diner appears to be The Eveready Diner in Hyde Park, NY. (tried to link and I give up! It’s easy to google)
Maybe June took a page from Bill Griffith of Zippy comics fame and recreated a real vintage diner. It is very nice. Griffey would approve.
