Mary Worth 3000

I expected some sort of congratulations from Karen Moy for my 3,000th Mary Worth post, so I visited her blog, but this was all I found: A one-sentence post with a scan of her own comic that wasn't even straight. It makes me feel a little unappreciated, frankly.

When we adopted our cats, we didn't have a supportive narrator facilitating the interview. Somehow, the shelter still saw fit to let us have them.

Moy is probably busy getting her Halloween costume ready, and didn't have time to write a post that was suitably congratulatory. She's going as Harlan Jones, and needs to dash off to the hardware store for some Asteoturf to make a jacket. We'll have to say it for her. Congratulations, Wanders, and thank's for all the fish, er, I mean, all the laughs. Here's to the next 3000!

Also, by staying up till the middle of the night, I get to be the first to post. Woot!

Oops, except I took too long to post, so now I'm second.

And yes, how does the shelter vet potential pet owners if they don't have Mary there to vouch for them?

After “Who Am I to Disagree” I was hoping Wilbur would pop up and belt out “I travel the world and the seven seas!” Mary:”everybody’s lookin for somethin!” devolving into an awesome cover of Sweet Dreams (the Marilyn Manson version) by the entire cast as a terrified Greta bolts for cover.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"And Speaking Of Replacing, How About Those Tires?".

Good home. Experience.
Yes, good life.
Replace, new door!

Happy 3000, Wanders! You just keep Getting Better And Better!

Wanders, in honor of your 3000th post, and with reference to your secret message today, each one of your faithful readers has visited their local animal shelter and has picked out a dog for you. I hope you have a big house.

Congratulations on your 3000 post, Wanders. Here is to the next 3000.

When I adopted my pets, they wanted to know my vet's name, if my building took pets and telephone numbers to confirm everything. Apparently, Animal Shelter only needs Mary to vouch for you.

When Mary said "He has experience with dogs", it reminded me of when Dr. Jeff's daughter was getting married and found Jill Black who "Had wedding planning experience". We all know how well that went.

I'm surprised that Myster Wynter moved on so quick. First he was kidnapped by a meddlesome old biddy and now he's happily adopting another dog. Poor Greta. She's destined to a life of endless picture taking and bow ties.

Okay, let's move on to the next awful story line that KM is going to mess up. Is Dawn back from Beautiful Italy yet?

Happy 3000th, Wanders! Karen Moy may ignore you, but everyone here appreciates you and thanks you for providing and fostering this congenial community.

Sheesh, Awful Animal Shelter doesn't just cram dogs into small, bare cages - look at the fish bowl on the file cabinet. Adding that to AAS's haste to move dogs out, it's time for the local animal welfare agency to investigate. However, this being Santa Royale, there probably is no animal welfare agency. AAS has the Meddler Mary Worth Seal of Approval anyway.

Wanders, heartiest congrats on your 3,000th, made all the more remarkable by the fact that as far as we know, you have never once had to be put in a straight-jacket while babbling incoherently. That you have been able to keep your sanity throughout all this is impressive, if not heroic. A tip o' the muffin hat to you, sir.

In my haste to thwart lmbj 1964's ambitions to post first, I neglected to note the big 3 triple oh.

That is quite the feat and I join everyone else in thanking you for your efforts!

Happy 3000th anniversary, Wanders! And, as we all know, the traditional present for a 3000th anniversary is a slightly used, traumatized dachshund. As soon as Greta can get away from Saul, she’ll be on her way to you. You’re welcome.

In all sincerity, though, thank you so much for providing this forum for all of us to build a kind of family. We really do appreciate it.

@fauxprof at 10:34 a.m., you made me laugh heartily. I'm visualizing Wanders and his family nervously peering through their windows for Greta. Trick or treat indeed! ;-)

Congrats on 3000!

When we adopted our Puggle from Tall Tails Beagle rescue, we had to prove three references, and they called them!

We come here today to honor and praise a man who has spent 10 years thinking and writing about Mary Worth. Paging Dr. Freud...

We've adopted two dogs and a recalcitrant donkey. Each dog took a week to adopt whilst they checked our references and vet, and the donkey is still visited by the horse rescue monthly. They are all wonderful creatures that enrich our lives. It is foolish to think that someone can just blunder into a shelter and grab a dog. But - this is the Worthiverse...

Congratulations on hitting the 3000 mark, Wanders! Maybe Ms. Moy will feature you on her next storyline! I'm thinking another intervention for Nola Wolvenson would be in order. : )

Saul: “I need to open a new door.”

Mary: “No doggie doors allowed at Charterstone!”

Happy 3000th, Wanders! Thanks for all you do to make life a little more fun! :-D

I'm a little worried that Fauxprof is awarding you a rescue dachshund. Our adopted one is the only dog we had to give up. She was completely untrainable and the most stubborn animal I've ever met. She was cute though. Hope that's enough.

Thank you for the 3000 posts. Please never stop!

Hey, Meg. Regarding your comments directed at the plight of our favorite serviette, times are indeed hard for Chinny. He has fallen so far from his featured character status that he will take any work he can get. If offered the job of poopy puppy drop cloth, he will hold his nose and take it. His absorbancy is up to the task. Oh, the humanity!

Congratulations Wanders!!!

A major milestone. Thanks for the many laughs!!!

Oh, CNG- your humility is a lesson for us all. Has Chinny thought of getting work in other strips? The Blondie strip shows fine dining once in a while... I know not what course others may take, but I’d rather wipe Dagwood’s chin than Wynter’s floor...or nose.

Congratulations, Wanders! Well done. I haven't posted in years but I'm here every day enjoying what you and the Santa Royale Regulars have to say. Cheers to you all!

I'm late to the party today but I want to wish M. Wanders all the best on your achievment. there's a place in heaven for those who provide opportunities for self entertainment, and you are a prime candidate for that! One question: is that 3,000 posts in people years or dog years?

r u ok? said...

Nice work - 3000! Thanks for all the entertainment. You should treat yourself to a splak casserole followed by some kelk cookies.

Kudos on 3000 posts! I appreciate all you do to keep this crazy train going. Your comments and secret messages always make me laugh. Thank you!

Congratulations and thanks to Wanders!

Saul: "I need to open a new door." For all they know at Animal Shelter, he could be referring to an oven door.
