Mary Worth 3172

Mary's eyes roll so far back in her head that she sees her own brain.

"His name is Hugo. Like the car!"

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"We Like Food, Swimming, And Being Inanely Pretentious".

Very well. Are?
Fabulous! In love!
Lucky man?
Hugo Lambert!
La vie est belle!

Je pensais que la vie était brutale!

I’m astonished that Mary is serving Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies.

@Nance, your BFH title is boffo (once again!), and applause to Wanders and @Vince - huzzah!

"And is he an American citizen, dear? No?? "I think we'd better get ICE on the phone ASAP!"

Apple Mary, your Depression Era muffins are good but not as good as the one at a little cafe on the Rue Dauphine.

@KitKat--Thank you.

@Wanders--Too funny today with the secret messages. You are en fuego. (I'm deliberately NOT using French.)

"Dawn, I just remembered something important. Sorry, but you'll have to leave. Now. I'll pack this up for you and you can eat it at home. Au revoir."

As soon as Mary rushes Dawn out the door, Mary hits the speed dial.

"Toby, I've got another job for you. Name's Lambert. Hugo Lambert. Supposedly from France. Check him out."

"Oh? You're asking little ol' me? Why don't you ask your friend Terry Bryson in Building B? She's the big hotshot investigator. Good-bye, Mary."

-- Scottie McW.

P.S. Wanders, you're at the top of your game. C'est magnifique!

I cannot possibly top any of the comments today. As Hugo the Yugo would say "C'est magnifique!"

I have been out of the loop the past few days, and I wanted to mention KM's "Quote O' the Week", which was all in French. OMG, she is as pretentious as Hugo. As least he gives us the English translation. Is KM taking French lessons and trying them out on us? The translation is "Life is a sleep, love is the dream." This part was left out for some reason, maybe for brevity: ("And you will have lived, if you loved.")

I just want to say, Dawn falls in love like I change my clothes. Has there EVER been a time she WASN't in love with some loserish guy she met in the summer? This guy is pretentious and according to him, everything is better in gay Paree and in Europe than it is in stinking America. Hiws host family probably is counting the days until he leaves. At least they're getting a house painting out of the deal.

BTW, whatever that is on the plate looks like a Whoopie Pie, but probably not as good.

Wait a minute! Who won Hugo's "what does the fish say?" contest? Did I miss Wanders' decision? If it's still up in the air, I would vote for Scottie McW's suggestion - not the Bogart quote (you beat me to it, Scottie) but because of his suggestion of Rescue Me for the jukebox... that would have been priceless if the fish has started singing that!

Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies with a side of kale, yummmmm!

Chester predicts that Hugo needs a "wife" for him to stay in the US. Dawn is not so wifely, she thinks a vacuum cleaner is a dog toy.

If Hugo is indeed an exchange student, who did the poor Frenchies get in exchange for him? Tommy? Or maybe What's-her-name who tried to flirt a good grade out of Ian?

I know this isn't going to end well. I can't figure out if he's going to fall off a ladder while painting his host's house, drown in L'ocean or maybe just try to convince Dawn to marry him.

Meanwhile, did y'all hear about some congressman/verteran who had an Arther/Arthur problem? Some catfisher was using the congressman/vet's photo as their online dating photo. He had no idea until some woman showed up expecting to marry him.
