I see.. Mary's MO is to be "au contraire". Guessing Hugo would get this... She invariably comes ups with advice that contradicts whatever her prey has been saying, whether or not it makes sense. She was warning Dawn about long-distance relationships. Now she's suddenly the Love Police, despite the fact that it's been six months since these two have seen one another. Dawn, Dawn, Dawn! Think for yourself!! You don't need to consult either your aimless father or your prissy neighbor!
Nance, brilliant! I think you should send today's BFH to Dr. Amy Acton, Ohio's Director of the Department of Health. She would definitely appreciate it. Maybe Gov. DeWine could even feature it as part of his daily briefings at 2pm!
Whatever made Mary’s eyes disappear in p. 1 abated by p. 2. Perhaps June is wearying of Mary and daydreams about eliminating her incrementally.
Nance, I love your topicality!
I hope I’m not venturing too close to potentially non-family-friendly territory: when Mary says that Dawn can see Jared every day, is “see” a euphemism for making whoopy?
Nance, the brilliance of your BFH went right over my head until LouiseF spurred me to give it another look. Well done indeed!
And I second the motion on Gov. DeWine and Director Acton, who have been all over this from the very beginning and who have handled their responsibilities with maturity, intelligence, and competence. I have all the confidence in the world in them.
When Dawn says that Jared "feels like home", I thought of the Madonna song "Like a Prayer", which goes "Life is a mystery/everyone must stand alone/I hear you call my name/And it feels like home." Is Dawn now channeling 90's songs? Is she just "settling"? Is she an idiot?
Another suggestion for the Charterstone jukebox would be "Two Lovers" by Mary Wells.
@KitKat, does anybody in the Worthiverse ‘“make whoopee”? All the couples seem to be existing in a state of platonic “meh”. The tee-hee Taylors talked a good game, but I never bought it. I think the flower fairies left Olive under a rose bush.
I, too, give kudos to Gov.DeWine (whom I did NOT vote for, btw), except for his allowing businesses to use their own "good judgment" as to whether or not they are essential or following good sanitary protocols. That's allowing a lot of dangerous grey areas to exist and endangering workers.

Ha haaaa, Mary is snapping out of her funk and is now trying to talk Dawn out of this.
The heavy meddle thunder is back, baby!

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"Mary Talks Strategy For Flattening The Curve".
Convenience?
What?
See. Same place.
Home.

So let's see if we can arrange this for maximum suffering.
Dawn is meddled into breaking up with Jared.
Then Hugo calls Dawn to break up with her. (And go off with that HUSSY, what with her exposed face and her working in the same office and everything.)
Then Dawn has to see Jared every day…

Also Dawn, Bob Hope called, he wants his nose back.
Scottie McW., I second your remark about the outstanding leadership displayed by Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton.
Regina W-P., it goes without saying that Dawn is an idiot.
Convenience - it's what holds 94% of marriages together after the first year. You make it sound like a bad thing, Mary.

It feels like home, because you ARE home, stupid.
Oh, thanks, everyone.

“Mary Worth, Love Police” definitely has a better ring to it than “Mary Worth, Tulip Murderess”.
