After one last farewell canoodle with Hugo, Dawn phones Jared back in Santa Royale:

"Jared, I told Hugo I've fallen for you. He and I are just friends."

"Oh, thank God. I haven't eaten since you left. Heck, I haven't even fed my cat."

"But guess what! Hugo has invited us to visit him in Paris this summer!"

"Uh, Dawn, do you know how expensive it is to fly to Paris and back, not to mention stay there for a week?"

"Jared, do you mean you can't afford to pick up and go anywhere in the world whenever you want?"

"No. I mean Yes. I mean Yes I can't. I mea . . ."

"Hmmm, I'm afraid this changes everything. Looks like I backed the wrong horse again. I wonder if it's too late to beg Hugo to reconsider."

We need to find out where Dawn bought that dress with the retractable sleeves. Iris would love one of those when she actually does go through "the change."

What a poetic secret message, Wanders.

Not only does Dawn’s dress have retractable sleeves, Hugo’s ice cream changed flavors between panels.

This NYC sojourn was the lamest plot since...the previous plot. What a nothing burger. YAWN

Dawn apparently does not know that you can go to Paris, or anywhere, all by yourself, without an invitation from a "friend." Of course she'd rather have the awesome experience of visiting Hugo with her person. In Paris. Because there's nothing else to do there. But visit her friend. Whom she dumped. In New York. After a week of sightseeing and thought ballooning. By the way, where's Harlan?

I keep hearing that old Dr Pepper commercial..

I'm a cheater, your'e a cheater, he's a cheater, she's a cheater,
Wouldn't you like to be a cheater, too?
Be a cheater, drink Purple Wine Beater....

Isn't it wonderful how woke and progressive Hugo is? Not wanting to pry into delicate details as to whether Dawn's new squeeze is male, female, or other, he delicately refers to Jared as a "person." I'm not sure he's right about that, but it does show a fine sense of Gallic diplomacy.

And in yet another demonstration of Hugo's authentic Frenchness, he thinks that the summer is an excellent time to be in Paris.
