Mary Worth 3370

You know what else is precarious? Eating muffins in the living room, and yet Mary and her friends do it all the time. Can you imagine the crumbs under her couch cushions??

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Mary Digs In For A Four-Muffin Marathon".

Feelings...
Works with!
Precarious.
Relieved.
Hurt?

Also precarious: putting that HUGE muffin on a tiny plate. Does Mary have any normal sized plates in her house?

“I’m so glad you’re happy. YOU AND HUGO ARE BOTH CHEATING TRASH. Settle in, dear — I made extra muffins, we’re going to be here awhile.”

Mary still uses the plates she got with her doll’s tea set (Christmas, 1916). How sweet!

Yes I can imagine those crumbs! I have two teenage boys who can't understand to EAT AT THE TABLE. My five year old "new" couch is constantly full of crumbs, juice box straw wrappers, stained and this past weekend I had to open her up to reattach a spring. Grr.....

But this isn't about me! It's about crumby muffins.

"No feelings were hurt at the news?"

"That's correct, Mary. No feelings were hurt at the news. He's interested in someone else. I'm relieved. We agreed to be friends. He's happy, I'm happy. How many different ways do I have to say this before you finally get it? Sorry, but there's no drama here for you to sink your dentures into! Sheesh!"

"Is Jared still upset that you went to New York?"

"AAAAUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!"

No animals were harmed in the making of this comic strip. Only muffins....

This bit of plot line would be much more funny if we could somehow get and substitute Grandpa Munster’s recipe for “Nuthin’ Muffins” and imagine their voices as chipmunks. (The Munsters, Episode 50, 1965)

Speaking of doll's tea sets, fauxprof, what looks like Dawn's iced tea glass looks small enough to serve a Barbie.

Moral of the story - long distance relationships don't work and aren't worth trying. I guess?

Next story line please - maybe Toby can get mad at Ian again or something.

Just catching up after several days. So many great comments from all of you.

Wanders, many congratulations to your daughters, and I LOVED the commencement ceremony. Wonderful. Thanks also for the music, and so many great secret messages.

Speaking of music, so-called, please do not put "Reunited" on the jukebox. Worst. Song. Ever.

meg, loved your grammar comment.

And Nance, the BFHs, as always, were stellar.

@Sandi Ego, I work at UC Santa Cruz! What will your son's major be? Does he know yet?

After my boyfriend and I have dinner together. We always end up by one of us saying, "I enjoyed spending this time together," and the other saying, "Me too, dear."
Wait, did I say always? I meant never. We never say that. Because we are not robots. Yep, that sure sounds like dialogue from a fiery relationship. *eye roll*

Not much else to say that hasn't been saying--unappetizing muffins, tiny plates, Wilbur and Estelle (I just threw up a little), and OMG, Jared's car. And Dawn's inability to use the word "love," and just in general the awesomely lame dialogue. Thanks for many laughs, all! (Not you, Moy and Brigman, except unintentional ones.)

I wonder if Dawn made Hugo sign a relationship agreement, like Sheldon Cooper did with Amy Farrah Fowler. Because nothing says "genuine relationship that two human beings might have" like "We agreed to be friends." (And then we set down in writing the terms of that friendship forthwith.)

I’ve been baking lots of muffins during these stay at home times. I do fastidiously de-crumbify the sofa after ever muffin. (I usually do a crunchy cinnamon topping on my muffins, so that’s an extra crumby affair. Also, my muffins are better than Mary’s.)

I hope I can get some flour from the store soon.

The way Mary and Dawn have their heads bowed while holding their muffins so high reminds me of a low-budget horror movie. They look like pagan priestesses slow-walking their candles to the human sacrifice. Hope it's Wilbur.
