Mary's expression: "You had knee surgery? Drew got married and divorced? Sure, sure, I remember all of those things. How could I forget."
I want thank to Joan, Jim, Richard, Barbara, and Louise for their generous donations. Thanks so much. There was another donation from someone's website but I can't figure out how to thank you except to say, "Thank you."
What world does Mary and company live in with no COVID or anything else that happened in 2020? I want to live in that world! Oh wait, then I'd have to live at Charterstone, shop at Freda's and listen to Mary's advice. Nah.
Personally, I think it would have made for a much more interesting year if KM had written her three stories about Jeff's knee surgery, Drew's trouble with his ex, and Jeff's friend's (Ted the Muffin Man?) business failure.
Does Jeff notice, or care, that Mary pays no attention to his life at all? How about if Mary had asked, “Drew? Who’s Drew?” And what about Adrian and her husband? Has even Jeff forgotten them? “A daughter? I have a daughter?”
Mary's expression is almost one of "Who are you again?" Poor Jeff, hanging around with someone who barely notices him. Telling someone that they're "special and treasured" sounds an awful lot like "We're just friends."
Also, I've never seen poinsettias that were that particular sickly shade of orange. At least they aren't purple, like everything else in this strip.
lmjb2964, I think the flowers are supposed to be the ubiquitous unattractive yellow day lilies that litter the grounds of Charterstone. They seem to be June’s go-to all purpose flowers for all occasions. Which reminds me, a question for the MW & Me California readers: Do day lilies in your state grow year round? They’re strictly summer plants in NE Ohio.
@ KitKat. I have no idea what MW's flowers are supposed to be, but yes, day lilies grow all over California, and all year in Southern California. They even grow in the high desert if protected from afternoon sun and given water. They do particularly well in coastal areas. Guess Santa Royale is just blessed.
Who is this Eric Butterworth? Husband to the syrup lady perhaps? Also, I'm afraid I misread that first speech balloon. My brain jammed the "cooks" and "like" together, and I thought Jeff was saying: "NO ONE LIKES YOU!"
KitKat: So true. Mary is looking away saying "Who are these people you are rambling about? If they don't live in Charterstone, then I don't care. No opportunity to meddle. Come to think of it Jeff, you don't reside here either, and you have a job. Maybe I should take up with Wilbur or Mr. Wynter."

O Yeah! Then there was that Covid stuff; that was a hassle for every MD but me

Merry Christmas to all!

@MissScarlet, thanks! I will no longer complain about June incorporating day lilies so much, but I wish the colorist would be more creative.
