First of all, ewww. Second, I am going to parse the Shakespeare quote, of course, but first let me say that everyone uses it this way, so I don't blame Mary for missing the context. But this is from
Twelfth Night. In fact, I think it may be the very first line. The issue here is that a young man is so love sick, he wants to "eat" so much music that he loses his appetite for love. I think we've all known that feeling while "reading" Mary Worth.

Oh dear Lord. Toby and I are going to be forced to blast Simon and Garfunkel on our boom box to drown out Libby and Wilbur's pathetic yowling.
The Sound of Stunned Silence
Hello meddling my old friend
Mary's acting smug again
Her Star Lounge advice was so full of crap
But that won't keep her from a victory lap
All the plot holes Karen planted in my brain
Still remain
Within the sound of stunned silence
In restless dreams I walk alone
Through the halls of Charterstone
No one acts human in this neighborhood
At least we know the dogs and cats are good
The words of the M5eddler are written on the condo walls
And stucco halls
Amid the sound of stunned silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Stunned silence like a cancer grows
That handsome vet has somehow lost his luster
Compared to Wilbur Under All That Fluster
Second chances and third pet adoptions made
Estelle's mind fade
Into the sound of stunned silence
To cope with senseless dialogue
We have to turn to Wanders' blog
Boldfaced talking without speaking
Endless sing-offs without listening
Piano songs that Wilbur's exes never shared
Just Libby dared
To disturb the sounnndd...
of stunned silence...
Happy Holidays all, and have a safe and happy and meddle-free New Year!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your formidable talents, Professor Cameron.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all in the Worthyverse. Thank you Dr. Cameron for a great song.
Thank you Wanders for bringing joy and perspective to an otherwise insufferable "comic" strip.
Thunderheels.
Thank you Wanders and family for your Christmas wishes! I wish you, your family, and all the devotees of this blog a happy Christmas and a peaceful, healthy New Year.
Professor Cameron, your contribution is stunning (in the best way)! Thank you for this remarkable gift!
Regarding today’s installment of As the Muffin Crumbles, how loud is the ruckus emanating from Estelle’s apartment that Mary can hear it through closed windows and on the ground? I hope the Condo Board is deluged with complaints. Also, how can Estelle reach the keyboard standing way off to the side like that? Wilbur’s belly, shaking like a bowlful of jelly, is taking up all the room.
LOL, nothing like a misunderstood Shakespeare quote to start the day! Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Wanders. Thanks for another great year sending up Mary Worth.
Kudos to Cameron and Mary Christmas to you all!
Merry Christmas, happy New Year, and thanks to Wanders, Ian Cameron, and all those who keep us laughing around here!
Wonderful job, Dr. Cameron! Any chance you could get KM enrolled in one of your Creative Writing courses? No? I didn't think so.
KitKat - Maybe it's not the noise that alerts Mary of another sing fest. It could be the shaking of the building as Wilbur really gets into his song.
Merry Christmas to all my Worthiverse pals! I'm looking forward to enjoying your company in the year ahead. Thanks, especially, to Wanders who gives the gift that just keeps on giving! My best to you, Wanders, and your lovely family.

It looks like Mary is starting to grow a second chin. She's had too many muffins.
Mary seems to have lost a lot of friends this year. Jeff is all she could come up with.
The look on Jeff's face in Panel 1 is probably similar to that of the poor pig when he saw someone coming at him with a butcher knife.
